it’s really annoying. why do the devs put something stupid like this in the game???
I understand there used to be an addon to filter it all out but it seems like it’s not even available anymore and other similar addons are not updated.
I could just turn off enemy messages from hte window, but then there are other non annoying messages that are useful and convey interesting story and background colour.
How many randomised responses were you expecting the devs to include, for something which is just flavour…and which most players pay little attention to?
i’ve got the enemy champion in my sights.
i’ll take them out

Never had that in my chat, where does it occur?.. the only mildly annoying thing I have found, is WQ boxes/voice-overs popping up multiple times, when you are farming in a small area…but I accept this is functionally difficult to avoid…tbh, I only infrequently glance at chat.
well I wish there was a addon to start off with. that’s my number one hope and wish, and maybe there is one but I just can’t find it .
aside from that, maybe the developers will see this and consider that maybe the mobs don’t repeat teh same messages so often or maybe put in an automatic filter in the game or something… I dunno.
edit:
maybe we can have 2 ranks of messages from mobs?
level 1 is unique background colour that doesn’t repeat very often at all or is scripted to run once specifically for each character.
level 2 would be trash mob messages that are likely to play a lot.
we could choose to have one on and the other off. I could choose for those types of messages to only appear in world in chat bubbles ad the important ones to show up in my chat log.
Hmmm… unless it was a very obvious button, I think the risk is that people would forget they activated it and then wonder why they were getting ganked by an opposing Faction stealth squad, with no warning, in a major city…I suspect it has the same trigger.
that would be classified as necessary and would be a once per player basis.
I’m talking about the repeat messages that give no new information like in vol dun right now.
I don’t need to know a orc is aiming at me because if I’m in range, then it is the same as any other mob, and if i’m not in combat, I certainly don’t need to know these orcs are aiming at other players.
Except there is an assault going on in Vol’dun atm… and the other players probably do want to know they are being aimed at, no?
Couldn’t you just toggle between General and Combat?
to be honest, I think the horde ships, the cannons, the message displayed at the bottom of the screen by mathias shaw, all are clue enough. also the fact they are losing health is a pretty big hint.
And I don’t need that on my screen do I?
This is the meaning of when I said “per player”. as in, not every player has to have it spammed to their windows. like when nzoth whispers me, nobody else sees that, so it isn’t as if this kind of functionality isn’t already in the game.
Will have to check it out next time I’m in an area effected by an Assault… think it would seem a bit odd to have a major assault scenario going on and nothing being said by any NPCs in the locality, perhaps just explosions, yelling and screaming like in some of the villages/towns being permanently attacked as part of the story, would be better?
honestly, it’s just the concept of having the same messages constantly spammed, it’s annoying… it doesn’t happen in most places.
I mean yeah the NPCs do talk and it goes in hte chat window and it’s usually fine but in some places its the same message over and over. one other place I recall it being really annoying was in kun lai near the white tiger temple, there is a troll that is selling grummle goods.
the main drawback of this could be if you’re keeping an eye on general chat or are having a conversation or whatever.
normally, the background colour is good, but when it gets repeated ad infinitum it gets annoying.
