Hi. Is it possible to rip “Algalon the observer blablababla” story file out of the game files so I don’t have to listen to it five times per minute when I want to chillax?
there is a weakaura that does that, google mute algalon/rhonin weakaura
Ha! That works too ofcourse. Thanks.
Also addon called Leatrix+ does Ronin monologue muting among many other options. The most light weight and versatile general interface and utilities addon of them all.
Of course you could. You would first need to make a backup copy of the correct archive format file Blizzard uses and extract it (I remember there used to be 3rd programs for it back in the day, used them once to get soundtrack files, but the format might have changed since then), find the correct files, remove them, then reassemble the archive. After that you should never use the launcher, so you will need to enter your email address and password every time when logging into the game. That’s because the launcher (battle.net) scans game files for consistency, and if it finds that you modified the files it will try to repair them. Sometimes a failed consistency check might also result in a ban.
Of course, this will only work until an update rolls around. You will not be able to log in through the game itself, because you client version will not match what the server expects. At this point you will need to replace the modified archive with the backup you made, start the launcher and update the game. If the archive you modified was not targeted by the update, then you can just switch the files back. If it was, you will need to modify the changed file in the same way you originally did. After that you can go back to logging in through the game until the next game update happens.
This is the same method you’d use for graphical modifications, such as replacing character models with older/newer versions or nude mods.
Do remember that modifying game files is a bannable offense.

To avoid
I’d recommend using a WeakAura to mute certain soundfiles instead of actually modifying game-files themselves as the latter is a big no-no and the former is allowed.
