Off-topic forum section

I’ve been wondering why can’t we have an Off-topic forum section like the US?

I remember that around 2012-2013 people asked on a weekly basis in the German forums until at some point the community managers gave up and allowed one off topic thread to be alive for a while. But the entire thing at some point escalated because the thread just contained big drama among the German forum regulars.

The old forums (old old, not the readonly ones that are still online) used to have an off topic section. From what I remember, it was removed because it required to much moderation / attention.

Maybe the Americans just behave better than we do. But I doubt this :stuck_out_tongue:

They tend to self regulate their own community.
EU just spam flags anyone who insult the insulters so it’s a bloody mess for any moderator.

Lack of use is often a problem too. Most people start in General Discussion for most things, even if they belong elsewhere.

I remember the old Off topic forum being very fun, but it was also a place where it got out of control a lot :sweat_smile:

Not really because off-topic is literally topics that are unrelated to WoW.

We aren’t allowed one because we aren’t trustworthy :smiley: we have too many arguments and need too much moderation on WoW related topics let alone giving us free reign to discuss anything and everything, we would cause the forum to implode lol
