It is Official Blizzard Addon Manager App
There are a few major differences though, and also the arcadeâs problem wasnât that Blizzard were hosting it from what I recall.
I remember SC2 and D3 until 2015 both had this new battle.net experience where there wasnât really any public community or chat, and the SC2 community didnât have a games browser, but rather a map browser.
So basically if you made a game that wasnât on the list of popular games, then you couldnât get anyone to join because they had to magically pick the same map instead of picking from the maps that were actually available. This made the arcade extremely stale.
Furthermore there was no community or chatbox, so you couldnât really even talk to other people about which map to playâŚ
Honestly StarCraft 2 became absolutely bloody amazing with the release of LotV that fixed these issues. If only it had been that good from the beginning. I think SC2 wasnât as successful as SC2 couldâve been if SC2 had better leveraged the incredible community that that game has and has always had.
AnywayâŚ
An official Blizzard addon manager app (OBAMA - I like that one xD ) woudlnât suffer from this because the community is the game itself already, and we donât want to host multiplayer games with addons.
And besides, it would still be possible to install addons from outside Blizzardâs addon manager, unlike with SC2 where they kindda tried to lock it down.
This would be brilliant, it could be part of the launcher.
There would probably need to be some big disclaimer saying they are not responsible for the addons themselves.
yes, app, that sounds better, thanks Benjamin!
Iâm actually nervous about this addon change. Weâve just to follow like sheep to a new client ever few years? Iâve never even heard of this Overwolf before and when I looked into it they sound really untrustworthy with data. Guess Iâm going back to the old days of updating addons myself.
Wait, so people arenât just dealing with their addons manually?
