In BFA I played a pure healer, however I’m switching to DPS for shadowlands with heal as offspec as I am stepping aside so a fellow guild member can take up the mantle of healing for our group.
As most gear converts between the specs it’s not too much of an issue but for those that dual spec, how do you obtain the items that don’t (rings, trinks etc)?
I obviously want to prioritise my main spec gear selection but that means my offspec items have practically zero chance of dropping.
If you need specific trinkets for your offspec, you can switch your loot spec for that one boss, that drops the trinket, and then swap back.
most of the items besides trinkets should drop for you anyway, regardless of spec
the bigger problem here would be, that you also need to change your soulbinds, legendaries and maybe even the covenant, if that doesnt fit your off spec
Thank you for your reply, yes it looks like I’m just going to have to track which bits of gear I want and switch loot spec.
I was hoping there might be a passively small chance for those items to also drop.
With regards to the other things, we’ll have to see how bad it affects my ability to do things in a healing role. I’m not too fussed about optimising that role as long as I can accomplish a task (albeit maybe having to work a little harder) when required to step in as a healer.
