To the World of Warcraft Development Team , My name is Dmitry, and I’ve been a passionate World of Warcraft player since the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. I’ve journeyed through every era of Azeroth, from the frozen wastes of Northrend to the depths of the Shadowlands, but there’s always been one dream I’ve held onto throughout all these years: The dream of playing as an Ogre. Ogres have been a part of the Warcraft universe since the earliest days. From Cho’gall and the Twilight’s Hammer to Rexxar’s loyal companion Mok’nathal, and the proud Gorian Empire of Draenor — they are a fundamental part of the Horde’s legacy and the wider world of Azeroth. They are brutal, proud, shamanistic, and even magically gifted. In many ways, they embody the original spirit of the Horde: raw strength tempered by deep-rooted culture. As a longtime fan, I believe Ogres deserve to be elevated to the status of a playable race. Here are just a few of the reasons why: - Lore-rich potential : From the ogre clans of Draenor to their ancient history as rulers of the Gorian Empire, there is a wealth of untapped narrative potential for questlines, heritage armor, and unique racial identity. - Horde legacy : Ogres were part of the original Horde in Warcraft II. Their connection to orcs and their historical place in the faction makes them a natural addition — even more so than some Allied Races we’ve seen. - Diversity of character types : Not all ogres are brutish or foolish. Characters like Cho’gall, Dentarg, and even some ogre mages show a wide range of personalities and abilities. This would allow for creative customization in both RP and gameplay. - Fan demand : Over the years, there’s been a consistent demand from the community to make ogres playable. Many of us have waited over a decade — some since Warcraft II! - Visual and cultural identity : Ogres have a unique silhouette, voice, and culture that would stand out among current races. Their tribal designs, size, and dual-head option (for specific customization) could make for a truly iconic playable race. I write this message not out of frustration, but out of love for the world you’ve built and the hope that, one day, I’ll be able to create an ogre warrior, shaman, or even mage who proudly walks among the Horde. Why not? just sneak up and body slam.
Ogres are cool. I’m just not sure, if that’s gonna market an expansion to people that aren’t deep into wow lore. But who knows, maybe it could, if they lean a lot into what is cool about Ogres and update their visual slightly.
Similar issue I had with Earthen. I feel like Earthen were marketing-wise a bit dumb. Their design is not something that makes ppl excited about an expansion I think.

Yeah for example just look at Demon Hunter. How many people picked up wow for the first time, when they saw illidan and demon hunter as a new class in the game?
Rule of cool is important when Blizzard adds new warcraft races to the game
