Old authenticator app support ends on January 5th

I’m kind of just pointing out the sticky thread exists, I’m assuming lots of people don’t pay attention to the stickies.

On January 5, 2024 support for the Battle.net Authenticator app will be ending. If you haven’t yet done so, please download the Battle.net Mobile App and migrate your Authenticator so there is no interruption in account security and in-game perks such as extra bag slots and access to LFG features.

I have a physical Authenticator keychain. Do I need to take any action?

No. The physical authenticator is not affected by this change. However, the physical authenticator is no longer available and when the battery dies you will need to use the Battle.net Mobile App to continue using the Authenticator feature.

Pretty important to point out outside of the FAQ. I think the headline is a bit too vague given there’s an even older authentication that is still supported.

I’d like to see blizzard adding options for other 2FA authenticators like Authy.

Obviously, but that has nothing whatsoever to do with whether or not Blizzard has deprecated it. If you have a working authenticator there is no need to take action.

I am well aware of what is changing over with the phone apps. I already migrated over once they integrated the function into the bnet app.

My precious authenticator is still alive! I almost never have to use it these days so that helps but its hanging in there my old little friend

my old physical one died, what quite a hassle to get it removed from my account paaniiik

I have a physical one attached to my account, but I think I will remove it and use the new app instead.

Edit: I removed the physical one but it turns out my old phone number is still on the account so I try to change it to my new one, but it requires the old phone…which I no longer have.
