Because those pieces were for 55-57, and the dungeons were retuned in Cataclysm to 45-47. (Why they didn’t just change the level on the items like the rest is anyones guess).

Just one quest would be appreciated for starters to introduce us to the new content, including unlocking of course (many new players would appreciate that I assume).
Old Scholomance isn’t for new content - it’s for unlocking old content to gain access to old mogs + patterns. And it’s supposed to be a ‘‘secret’’ to be discovered.
Eh, but it is new content though. Just added as so.

It’s still suppose to be one of those ‘‘mystery secret’’ unlock though, and there’s never any quests tied to those things (afaik).

Heh. Seems hanging onto the Spectral Essence all this time wasn’t a waste, though I suspect I can’t skip “quest steps” even though I already have it.
