[Old school player] How important is gear for PvPing?

Hello team,

I have been playing WoW for 15 years, but took a long break from retail when Classic was released. I played 2 months of BFA so my gear is quite outdated by now.

I do miss PvP in retail and i wish to casually PvP a bit. But when i logged in, i had 120k hp, and everyone else was running around with 400k hp. I do not have the time to commit to a mythic raid guild to gear up. How gearet do i have to be, to be somewhat equal with everyone else in PvP? Getting oneshotted by everyone because of gear difference is demotivating, but i do not have the time to fully gear up. Is PvP not playable anymore unless you have top tier gear?

400K HP, depending on class and spec, is usually about ilevel 450-460. You will get that gear from M+5->M+7 and/or from World Quests and Emissaries. and/or Normal/Heroic Ny’alotha.

120K HP is really just-dinged 120 levels of health. If you have a guild or friends that will drag you through M+ or a raid, you could probably do it in a day or two. It will likely take you a week of WQ to ladder yourself up to 400, enough to get onto M0. You could speed that up by buying crafted 400s at the AH, but they’re not cheap. After 410, gearing with WQ is very slow and RNG because you can only get upgratdes from Emissaries, which are 1 to 3 a week.

In this patch gear with right stats and corruption really important in pvp.

Even with 400k hp people die like in 2 sec if they met gear optimize PvP players.

Gear is everything in PvP. If you don’t have the time to do your daily chores and farm gear at least 8 hours a day then don’t even bother with PvP.
