Let’s be honest with the new talent trees you never change your talents because there isn’t much choice and it’s a big hastle, and with the way pathing works you have to give up a bunch of other talents to change one talent. People just got seduced by the idea of talent trees because it looks more complex when instead it locks you into one path. It’s another case of you think you do, but you don’t. It was better before when you could change single big talents without having to worry about changing pathing, it gave more flexibility and the talents were more impactful instead of trivial crap like “increase stamina by 2%”.
except.
the new talent as a way to save builds and auto switch them on adjusting everything for you.
amazing.
No, the New talent system is Quite Litterally. the biggest improvement classes have recieved Since the launch of this game.
Lmfao.
but it rly isnt. Nobody is complaining about them… and the vast majority have stated its a Net positive,
I think u’l find… its Quite litterally
just you.
There really isn’t much choice though. You have enough points to fill out 70% of the tree. With the old trees you could only fill 33% and there were way more combinations.
Unpopular opinion:
There’s always a META template, no matter the format of talent trees, therefore talents should be removed entirely.
Just make it all baseline and remove the illusion of choice.
Nor was there with the Old Talent system.
i have 5 Builds which are Used selectively based on what im doing and their all Meta for my class.
Beforehand… we had quite Litterally classes that M+ and Raiding were both identical builds? lol.
I much prefer this current iteration to talent tree than the previous.
the previous was so uninspiring.
this current one is just, so much possibilities and easily flexible. A bonus is that you can save your stuff to easily switch to whatever the situation demands.
I much prefer the new talent trees.
Its opened up so many new options that just werent there before.
I can make my character exactly how i want them.
The new talent tree is a failure and will be replaced after DF.
It simply remove your baseline spell and put them as talent. Meanwhile it has no real choice.
The comeback of +10% this ability, +5% speed, +10% stamina, etc, are pathetic.
When there are so many non impactful, non interesting talents, the more complicated is the tree, the more meaningless it is. That is why they were replaced.
Tree shaped pathing talents already failed before, and it will fail again in the same way.
Trees now allow you to play very different playstyles. As Outlaw you can play the Ambush/Audacity build or can play Roll the bones and Dispatch build. With various combinations on General tree. Lets you to decide between maybe sacrificing little damage over utility or healing. Which makes up a for quality of life difference.
The old system never allowed you to switch up your specs playstyle from its core. Which is the biggest appeal of this talents atm.
No it wasn’t.
Everything you listed the old system also had, but it was less fun on top of that.
Also, there are more than 1 viable, or even great builds for many specs.
If you think otherwise, you’re straight up factually wrong.
Sure some talents basically give you back abilities you already had, but overall you can take more things with this talent tree than you could ever before.
And many of those things synergize really well. You disagreeing to this is just you having your eyes permanently shut close.
Could you take felblade, demonic appetite, blind fury, burning hatred and demon blades all at once before? Could you take demonic and momentum? Could you do any of these combos? And these are just a few examples on a single spec.
Please think before you speak.
Like seriously it amazes me how you could make something 1000 times better than before and you would still have that couple of people saying, no i preferred it before when it was trash. Like what?
You’re clearly not making the most of your specs. I have different trees for different dungeons/affixes.
Old talent trees were not better, you just don’t have a great understanding of your class and its abilites.
As whats the difference with old talent tree? You exactly did the same, i change more talents now then i did with the old talent tree tbh.
You clearly dont know how to play it seems to top it off you are one of the class that has the most freedom to change talents and build.
I switch up my Talent tree quite a lot actually. Sometimes I make changes based on personal preference or playing style.
Other times I’m making changes based on what will be better for the dungeon/situation I am in. More Single target, more AOE, a better balance of both. Do I need less utility in exchange for more output?
And then if I’m learning a new class, I might dumb down the amount of use spells infavor of more passive talents.
Sure if you just want Raw damage output then there is going to be a BiS Build. And that’s fine to use if that what you want. But that’s also the reason why you might find you fall into this.
Changing a talent in the middle of your tree is a pain. I really don’t like the way it works.
I wish we could just remove one and put it into something else without removing every part of the tree below that.
I try to have the all the relevant builds set up in advance because you just can’t do it on the fly as easily.
There is a limit of ten builds per character at present.
No it is not , now you have to talent into baseline spells we had from classic. It gives you the illusion its more depth and choice but it is not really.
I have like 20 different builds spread across 3 characters, and that’s just for PvE. So as far as i am concerned, the new talent system is a massive success.
I must admit I don’t like that I’ve lost half my utility. It’s very odd.
However it’s better than having borrowed power.
I agree with that.
I like the new talent system in the way that you don’t need Codex to swap it around, but i don’t like what they did to my class in terms of playstyle too much buttons.
I liked shadowlands way more in the way you had soulshape as priest it brought so much time saving moments when you could blink and run away.
I miss it a lot having a blink > having running speed feathers
Im 50-50 I like the old talent system for one reason it was funnier and you didnt have to swap talents that much.
