Old Vicious War Mounts Unobtainable?

I’ve searched far and wide and haven’t been able to find a proper response to this, are the old vicious war mounts even obtainable anymore?

The only thing I’ve found is a post from 10 months ago mentioning how they’re gone

You can get a saddle once you obtain the Season 3 mount for those vicious mount right ? At least the ones before BFA.

It’s still obtainable afaik, they just made it even more ridiculously grindy to the point where it’s almost not worth bothering anymore

What even is the grind? I’ve found so many different answers

  1. Vicious saddles are unobtainable as of now
  2. Vicious saddles are obtainable through unlocking the current vicious war mount and then doing another bar filling grind
  3. Vicious saddles are only obtainable through the Veteran of the Horde/Alliance achievement per character

It just boggles the mind that there’s so much misinformation and confusion regarding this topic since it’s gone unanswered since the start of the xpac seemingly

You need a lot of wins to get the mount and the same amount to get the saddle, so it may take a while.

As for points per win it’s RBG > 5v5 > 3v3 >2v2 but 3v3 seems to be the most efficient way to farm. I remember something like 80 wins in 3v3 but may be wrong on this one.

How hard for you is to understand ?
I will try explain it one last time , please follow the steps bellow.

  • 1 Start playin Arena or RBG
  • 2 Get into 1.4k
  • 3 From the moment you ding 1.4k , each win provides you with points which fill the mount bar.
  • 4 When the bar is full you get a token .
With that token you head to vendor and you can buy w/e Vicious mount you want.

There doesn’t seem to be any indication that you get anything aside from the current vicious war mount after you’ve finished that grind so surely you could understand why this is confusing, are you saying you get both the current seasonal mount and a saddle along with it?

Player versus Player

  • Players who have earned their seasonal mount reward in rated PvP may now progress toward earning Vicious Saddles, up to a maximum of 10 Vicious Saddles per season.

Quoted from:-

Vicious Mounts - Rated PvP

In Battle for Azeroth, the method for obtaining these Vicious mounts has changed. All except the most current mounts must be purchased with a Vicious Saddle, but the original method of obtaining these has been removed and the new method requires that you first earn the current season’s mount. To achieve this: (i) You must first reach the PvP rank of Combatant during the Season. You can obtain this ranking by reaching a rating of 1400 through competing in 2v2, 3v3, or 10v10 arenas and battlegrounds. (ii) Once you’ve reached Combatant ranking you must win further matches in the same season, until your progress bar reaches 100% (2400 points). You’ll then receive the mount. (iii) For each subsequent time you fill your progress bar (during the same season) you’ll receive a Vicious Saddle, which you may use to purchase older Vicious mounts.

Notes: It appears the 1400 rating is specific to the match type you earned it in. For example, if you only earned the rating in 10v10 then you cannot progress towards the mount in 2v2 (until you also earn a 1400 rating in the latter). The number of matches required to fill your progress bar depends on the type of match. According to comments on Wowhead, by Rainewater, you require 40 wins in 10v10 (60 points / win), 80 wins in 3v3 (30 points / win), or 240 wins in 2v2 (10 points / win).

there is no 5vs5 in this game anymore

When you read on various wow-related fansites about how PvP has been undergoing death by a million cuts just remember that this is one of them.

Such an unnecessary change to how the system worked in WoD/Legion… so so convoluted. “The original method has been removed and the new one requires that you first earn the current season’s mount then get the saddle” – why? Just why.
