Wasn’t a joint effort announced a couple of years ago that the Blizzard moderation team would work closely together with the creators of MRP and TRP in actively monitoring Goldshire? I can’t for the life of me find the original post now, but it was a big deal at the time and it seems to have been dropped soon after. This is apparent in lots of GMs in screenshot evidence just not wanting to bother with it anymore or being unaware of RP addons being eligible for reporting in general.
I know ever since Blizzard offices in Europe were closed [and allegedly a skeleton crew in London is in charge of customer support and moderation now? Don’t quote me on this.] that the EU team has a lot more on their plate, and I am sure false reports do happen to some degree, but do they really not ever consider working together with the community to fix what has been a prevalent topic and headache to them for years?
The most common addon players seem to use has a “report” button which directs to opening a ticket for addon harassment.
Screenshots cannot be accepted unfortunately, but RP profile addons use a chat channel to share the profile, the chat channel is something that can be found in chat logs (as are other custom chat channels) and something that can be checked by Game Masters.
Is this information known to the moderation team across the board? While a Blue post did state recently that inappropriate RP profiles can be met with account penalties, it has been very inconsistent from GM to GM so I can’t fault the community for at times wondering if the trouble is even worth it.
However the fast response does incur some degree of optimism.
It should be - if a response is provided to a ticket stating otherwise, it’s worth re-submitting and pointing to here, or other blue posts highlighting this.
Would it be possible for you to make a thread and to dump it at the top of AD forums stickified so we can link it into any contentious chats?
Or are there other blue sticky threads with the info on that we can link with the info in that is easy to get to quickly?
That’d probably be the best idea - clear evidence of a Blizzard representative stating in an announcement that RP profiles can be met with account penalties. That way you instantly have a strong case when faced with a GM that is more unaware of the policy regarding third party RP content.
Are you sure? The one time I reported contents of a TRP profile, the GM thanked me for including the screenshots and claimed they did help them with resolving the issue.
I don’t think he does, but an offrealmer posting in a RP centric post, being liked by an instigator of A LOT of offsite drama including defending people who think it’s ok to ERP on a game rated 12+ is what spouted the comment.
Screenshots are easy to fabricate but they are often very obvious about being faked.
I don’t really care who likes what, but when it’s pointed out someone who has a history of defending frankly awful people well. That’s not really something I’d like if it was me.
Garnering praise from stirrers is not a thing to be proud of.
I looked because of the comment, otherwise I wouldn’t give a damn.
Also if you have no idea about who, what and so on, why even post in what is a mostly [server] internal issue?
Nobody here likes jade witches as far as I’m aware. As for awful people? I won’t comment on it, being no saint myself and how different people have different opinions.
One thing I will mention, I’m fairly positive that every WoW screenshot (Sent to the WoW folder) has a certain pattern or amount of data encoded into it that Blizzard can read to verify the time and date.
If a screenshot has been tampered with it’ll probably be immediately obvious when they try to read that data. But odds are these days GMs don’t have the tools to do that without the matter being escalated to those that do, so rather than do that they just say “No screenshots”.
