Once again choppy/stuttering gameplay

Its happening again, out of nowhere! Oh Cmon blizzard!!
What is going on randomly with choppy gameplay and fps dropping everywhere.

Seems to have bad PC performance overnight. Happening in cities, maw, korthia, many other zones. Screen freezes / fps drops to 10/20/30 when running around, inspecting players, opening map, etc.

Is it just me?

Having done all such things, seems to be happening (again) on blizzard’s side? :unamused:

If yall found similar issues or any fix please update me

Auto-detect my GPU > enforce running it to your dedicated GPU, that causes less issues. Also prevent windows defender (or any virus scanner) from doing realtime scans on your game. Make sure you have enough memory available, do you have other programs running at the same time? You mentioned background programs, what about your browser?

How’s the health of your storage device? Is it an SSD or a HDD?

Do you happen to use a logitech mouse that uses ghub software? if yes go into options and disable everything inside arx control, that thing just sucks your network.

Also try port forward your router with wow ports (google for wow port numbers).

update your ethernet drivers with driver easy.

could also be some addon, maybe raider io (causes big stutters when overing other players etc when not updated)

also enable ultimate power plan on your pc (google for how to do it)

By that criteria i meant that i’ve tried enforcing it to dedicated gpu. I have seized any virus scanners and have enouugh memory available.

also nothing running in background. no browers, nothing.

And running on SSD with 45gb left of space.

Can you verify that your SSD is still in good condition? What’s your RAM/SSD usage like when this happens? Reason I’m asking is because when you’re loading certain elements it’s usually RAM and storage actions being executed, so just to rule out these are not the problem, make sure your SSD usage is not spiking and in good health. CrystalDiskMark is one of the tools that lets you see if your SSD is still in good condition.

What’s your CPU usage like when this happens? Can you also check the temperatures of your system when this is going on? It could just as easily be thermal throttling.

dont have logitech products.

and ‘‘Also try port forward your router with wow ports (google for wow port numbers).’’ What? how does this affect fps or performance?

And its not addons, ive tried as i said above. tried ultimate power plan,. no difference.

Status of storage is good. As are temperatures, cpu is below 50 and gpu is below 70

im convinced its (again) a blizzard-side issue.

Disabling addons is pointless because they remain hooked into memory, and loaded by the game. The only way to test for a possible addon issue, is to totally remove them.

Disabling them exists only for when you want to temporarily turn their functionality off.

As a general rule, if we break something on our end (rumor has it that this may have happened now and then…) it affects everyone roughly equally. We have no way of making an individual PC suffer from performance/FPS drops - whatever is happening there must be somewhat unique to and caused by the specific hard- and software setup.

The data contained in the computer’s MSINFO/DXDIAG logs would go a long way towards identifying what the actual “culprit” may be. Please feel free to upload it to a file-hosting site (e.g. Pastebin or similar), and post the link here - we could take a look for you then.

I’ve already made a ticket with this info, thank you.

And @trovlak, ive manually deleted every single addon. This did not help either.

Im experiencing some real choppy game too lately ,its like this, after i play some rbgs etc the usual,my game suddenly looks like a slideshow but this happens only when i teleport to stormwind or pandaria (didnt test all worlds yet) then i go back to shadowlands its smooth again,if i go back to stormwind choppy again…really weird, and this choppy is only in the image, because my game continues to run at 60 fps / 16.6 ms…but it just feels choppy like slideshow, restarting the client fixes this untill happens again…started doing this around 2 months i think, tested reinstall with 0 addons pc fully updated…

asus rog gtx 1080 oc limited edition, asus rog maximus hero VII,intel i7 4790k,16 gb gskill ram, ssd, windows 10 pro.

this pc rock solid never did that in wow in 7 years, its doing now?

i contacted support they told me to clean interface etc etc…but it feels like its the game that has a bug, like the last one that stuttered when opening map.

if anyone experiencing this let me know, also this only happens after extended play (3 hours up).

thanks all.

It’s one month now that I have exact same problem.

I have this problem on 2 different computer, one less powerful and one more… the exact same behavior.
The strange thing is that changin the graphical settings from 5 (suggested nVidia) to 1 casuse no FPS increase.
In addition to all the settings of the OP, I also have a fresh install of Windows 10 (fully updated), World of Wracraft, and no addons active or even installed.

Hello , one month and I still have the same issue i’am convinced its blizzard’s side as well i have posted on the forums 1 month ago and had my DxDiag uploaded , I was recommended a full UI reset by a GM that didn’t work this problem occurred when i took a 4-5 months break from 9.1 and logged into 9.1.5

Having loads of stutter and flickering issues…Nvidia update yesterday seems to have made it worse even get stutter and flickers in Orgrimmar now…

having the exact same issue in mythic plus, brand new pc - 2 weeks old, newest spec but potato fps since last update …wth

I managed to fix it.

This is what I did. I disabled, all of my addons…

Then, I enabled, one by one, until I found out which addon caused the stuttering.

For me, it was GladiatorLOSSA that caused the problem. I disabled it, and the problem is gone.

I hope this helps,

Keep it real, stay strong and straight.

I only use DBM and TomTom :frowning:

DBM is notorious for being a resource hog causing game play issues on some systems.

Clearing out addons would definitely one of the first things on the list, when troubleshooting issues like this.

While most addons work reasonably well most of the time, not all of them do that all of the time… and that doesn’t even cover the fact that there is rarely any real compatibility testing happening between addons of different authors. Conflicts are eventually all but inevitable, and when they occur they can very much have notable impact on game stability/performance, as seems to be the case here.
