One-handed polearms

just PLEASE! me and a bunch of other people want it so badly, if maces, swords and axes get to be one handed and two handed then why not polearms too?

I’d love if they added one-handed polearms/spears and javelins

Most definitions of polearms is that of a ā€œlong pole with a blade attached at one end.ā€ Doesn’t sound very manageable with one hand.

Now if you’re talking short spears, I’m on board.

Let me guess… 90%? :stuck_out_tongue:

How would that work though? Maces, swords and axes have smaller and lighter versions designed to be wielded by one hand. The entire purpose of polearms is being a long melee weapon to give range advantage to its wielder. Making a polearm shorter to the point it can be wielded by one hand is basically turning it into a badly designed axe.

Maybe throwable polearms and axes? could be a cool idea for a shadow hunter class/spec

This makes no sense.

Why not add starships and pulse rifles and nukes as well.

I know it is a fantasy game, but you do know what a poleaxe (to give it it’s proper name) is? There is no such thing as a one handed poleaxe.

A one handed polearm is a stick.

ā€œBu buu buut I want one so badly!ā€

Given how popular combo the spear + shield has been in the world history, I don’t really see the problem here.

Besides, that’s a juicy comment from a demon hunter: Please explain the practical reasoning behind those 400 pound glaives your folk likes to fling.

Except glaives are anything but heavy, they are basically fist weapons with bladed extentions.

There is a wooden sword in the game… you can RP that to be your stick… oh sorry, ā€˜one handed polearm’.

Other than that, i don’t think people will rest until every Race can be every Class and can wield every weapon.

And by that time they will say its a boring game with no flavors and finally sod off to ruin another game…

Exactly spear and shield was really common and effective, so I see no reason why not to add it, even spear and sword can be used…

Except a spear and a polearm are not the same thing.

A spear is more like a dagger on the end of a wooden staff and a polearm is like a sword or axe on top of a wooden staff.

I agree there should be a spear in the game, which would be one handed with a shield only but a one handed polearm would not make sense, they are far too heavy to use with a shield.

Far too heavy are your arguments, this is game where is magic, dragons, time traveling, teleporting etc but you think polearm with shield is too much doh doh.

You know you’ve added over 100 posts to your post count since yesterday?

I notice stuff when I’m drunk…

Bukachu, the one who called me a forum no-lifer, who now has double my post count since the reset.

Basically, yes, the game does have some real world limitations. For instance, why can’t mages dual wield staves? Warriors can dual wield two handed swords.

polearm

Noun

( plural polearms)

  1. A close quarter combat weapon with the main fighting part of the weapon placed on the end of a long shaft, typically of wood.

A spear is technically a polearm. Because the definition is just ā€œblade thingy attached to a long shaft.ā€

Warriors can dual wield staves as well

So why can’t mages?

What I am saying is that a polearm has a much heavier blade on the end compared to a spear.

Spear

A weapon with a pointed tip, typically of steel, and a long shaft, used for thrusting or throwing.

Can you throw a polearm? No.
