Hey i’m new in WOW ( first time playng ) and i dont understand…
Why almost all pvp servers are one sided? whats the point?
For me as not wow player, open world pvp is very important, but as i see here peple dont care about it…
Joining pvp server and then make it one sided really whats the point? why not join PVE servers if u dont want open world pvp?
Why there are not some mechanic that prevent servers be one sided?
Lock faction joining 60-40% or smth like that

Because 99% of players play for PvE and arena/BGs not open world PvP.
Not having another faction on the realm only makes the experience better for most since it’s easier to quest; farm and travel around.
PvP realms were over-hyped before classic released, Every streamer, content creator, private server andy and people with nostalgia goggles kept saying that world PvP is amazing; World bosses are accessible to every guild and that world events are gonna be the thing to do outside of raids.
The reality was none of the open-world PvP activities were relevant to the majority of the player base. World bosses were limited to the top 1% of the realm; People got bored of PvP on a massive scale because it was just an unplayable lagfest (look at wintergrasp) and any 1v1 was never fair and most likely just a max level camping a low level flight point because they’re mentally [redacted].
People quit if they’re forced to be the smaller faction.

Because World PvP is not enjoyable.
It just serves as an inconvinience to a lot of people.
So once they get tired of getting killed/Ganked they transfer to the place where they are the majority
It’s still sounds stupid to me…
if u dont enjoy world pvp, ganks, fights and stuff just dont start on a pvp server and go play on PVE…

It’s all fear of missing out.
Being on a low pop server means you risk losing out on every pve aspect of the game.
People are opting to give up world pvp for the rest of the game to function.
It’s not that people don’t enjoy world pvp, it’s that the rest of the game offers a lot more that people are afraid of missing out on.
And understandably so given Blizzards history on the classic servers.
It is. People who claim Wpvp serves no purpose should have rolled on a PvE server to begin with.
People tend to think they like PvP but they only do it as long as they can follow some PvE objective (in AV for instance) or roflstomp people 5v2 all the time. There is nothing wrong with playing like that, but they should have not rolled on a PvP server then. Now all you have is basically PvE servers, either labeled PvE or labeled PvP full of 99% onesided faction garbage.
Anyone who claims its a good thing a pvp server is 99% onesided has no place being there in the first place.
And you are correct, it really takes away from the game if the enemy faction is not present on a pvp server.
If you consider engaging in PvP in the world a “nuisance” then you could extend the same thing to “questing”, which a lot of people also find boring and a nuisance… and then you have to ask yourself: why would this person play the game in the first place then? If you can not enjoy the game for what it offers and consider anything that doesn’t reward you in some way all the time a waste of time, well you should probably play something else.

It is stupid. There’s no one moderating this game. Welcome to WoW.

There are two type of servers
One is PVE
One PVP
If u dont like open world pvp and u enjoy doing quests, farm and travel around without any competition and pvp, u can start on a PVE server and enjoy
When u joining PVP server u expect PVP and fights while farming, travel and stuff and thats i enjoy most
But as i see now ppl here dont care about open world pvp and fights, still join on PVP servers and trying to make it PVE and ruins experience who really enjoy pvp content…
Its just stupid…
But this is wrong.
People do enjoy world pvp.
But they also enjoy the rest of the game and with how Blizzard have historically handled servers in Classic the preference of “the rest of the game” simply overtakes world pvp.
PvE servers are incomparably smaller that’s your reason. As actual migration data shows, server size is the #1 priority for majority of players when it comes to picking a server.
People do like wpvp so long as the numbers are in their favor and they’re winning. Blizz never managed to figure out how to incentivise minority faction play and the only time it kinda thrived was brill-southshore, as a sort of proto-battleground, because that’s where graveyards were nearest to each other.
One faction won the war in classic vanilla and pushed away another faction. One sided servers you are seeing now are in a state of post war era.
You just missed wpvp in 2019/2020 era.
I find the main issue here in fact that when realm is open for free character transfer, both faction can transfer without any faction balance regulation on Blizzard’s side.
Also as other mentioned, open world PvP can be nuisance to some players and people being selfish, thus when they see realm where their faction is majority of population they move there to have even higher advantage in numbers, which in turn result in rest of the opposite faction leaving the realm and moving to place where they will make most of the realm population.
I kinda enjoy open world PvP, because I play Protection Paladin, and players who ambush me while I’m doing quests often underestimate me and find themselves soon to be loosing the fight even though they might have higher level.
It however got bit of biter taste lately because playing on Ashbringer where Alliance is presumably only 20% of the realm population, I lost lot of open world PvP fights because horde’s players idea of fun is two or more on higher level as well against one lone alliance player and there is no one around who would land a helping hand.
Quite contrary, it kinda feels like Ashbringer realm will soon be the same as Gehennas or Golemagg.

…but then they go to play wotlk and choose a 1 sided server so they can level up in peace xD

There’s a choice to be made here?
imagine if blizzard forced faction balance… just started playing, ur friend invited u, and u cant play together because his server is locked for ur faction
dont wanna elaborate too much, but at the end of the day ppl would say blizz does it to promote paid server transfer to get more $$ and it was worst decision ever…
i think it would only worked if blizzard made all pve and pvp instanced content crossrealm but without making servers crossrealm they they could force 50:50 balance on servers, also it would fix a lot of problems , but make some new too
also there should be not paid server transfer in a game that we already pay monthly sub, if its necessary to just play a game (queues, low pop factions, dead factions, dead servers), transfer should be for free. Maybe premium options like race change, faction change not, but server transfer should be literally for free but with some kind of CD or sth, we wouldnt have queues, dead faction - those horde players on firemaw, those ally on gehennas would be saved
We talking about open world pvp and your solution is instanced pvp zones? Really?
We already have locked servers where friends can’t join btw…
But if blizzard forced faction balance at least 60:40% rate it will be saved without transfers fireamaw horde, gehennas ally and everyone )
And also if there is 60% Alliance and 40% horde, transfer on that realm for new horde players could be free, or with some bonuses or smth like that )
Also loosing faction could have some bonuses also, like some buffs or smth like that.
With that changes there will be good balance, but ofc nobody will do anything and nobody cares :d

There’s a choice to be made here?
Yes there is, try to fight, make strong guilds, gank constantly another faction, try to recruit new players in that faction and etc
Like real faction war game and not ONLY PVE CRABS game

It seems that most people think, PVP realms are bigger then PVE realms.
Most players do not want to do PVP (EXCEPT for situations like 3vs1, lvl 80 vs lvl 20 etc- means, where they are sure to win).
There were balanced realms, at least for some time. Even Firemaw was pretty balanced in the beginning of this year, when we created our chars there.
Then there were FCT away because the realm was so big, and another loophole and now the Horde is gone. sigh
If you really want to do wPVP, have a look at Thekal or Jin´do.
Jin´do seems to be a bit smaller, but seems to have a more even faction balance.
If you don´t think you need 8k people at the same time logged in, Jin´do might offer what you are looking for.
Edit: If you don´t mind to play in the smaller faction, and if you play Alliance, almost every other realm would be happy if you join (at least the not locked ones - like Ashbringer, Mograine etc. But from your forum char i assume you play horde. and almost every established PVP realm except afaik Firemaw and Earthshaker have a bigger horde faction)
There never should be forced 50:50 balance on realms.
Locking the free character transfer for one faction once it goes over 60:40 ratio and allowing only the unpopulated faction to transfer to that realm till the ratio drop below 60:40 again would certainly help though.
