I’d like to adress the DEV team with this letter, from the perspective of a resto druid but in the defence of the entire healer community:
I’ve been resto druid since i started playing the game mid burning crusade in 2007.
I started playing in a casual guild, learning the ropes, did all content up to the first bosses of BT, then at the begining of WotLK i got myself into one of the best guilds of my country, did all them hard modes on sartharion, malygos, naxxramas… we ended up making the first kill of yogg saron on the country and among the first on europe, then we did our best with them hardmodes, yoggy no keepers, mimiron’s self destruct, algalon… so much fun, then the same deal in trial of the grand crusader, tribute to mad skill chest, etc etc.
As you can see, i’m no stranger to difficult content, I even raided in both 10 and 25 men simultaneously at one point when it was possible back then, some days i raided for over 16 hours straight, it was amazingly fun, i even got mysef into a weekend guild with an alt to tank, but healing with druid was amazingly fun… then i stopped playing the game during firelands becase stuff, a couple years later i came back to play the game as a casual pvp player, then mythic+ came out in legion and it was really fun, on bfa i don’t remember what my r. io was, but i remember that i was doing 17 and 18 when the best for the weekly chest was 10, all with pugs and still casually and was having a blast.
At the end of bfa i stopped playing because stuff again, didn’t play shadowlands (seems that i didn’t miss much), but came back just when 10.1.5 was released, found out that guardian druid was THE tank, but i’ve been always healer, i love my flowers, so i stuck to my bussiness, the thing i had been doing for the past 16 years, but man, I was suffering, I liked the challenge, I’ve always been a person that likes to push himself, to gitgud, I don’t have anything to prove to anyone but me, so I push myself, the harder the content the more I enjoy it, but I wasn’t having much fun, mechanics seemed overkill, healing was short, not to even mention dps, swiftmend wasn’t healing much, only used it to trigger soul of the forest, my good old rejuvenation was only a tool to increase mastery count and trigger lifebloom’s bloom, not to actually heal, also, keeping 5 dots on enemies for not even 30k dps was just sad… treants were a good addition, but seem to be just a patchwork, not a proper fix for our problem, ended up with 2804 r. io, I’m sure i could’ve earned much more but playing for half season only takes you so far…
Then the balance changes came with 10.2, swiftmend now seems to heal a bit more and so does rejuvenation, treants don’t do anything now… you can pretty damn well buff our skills a tad more and just remove em, but the issue remains, i’m not having the fun i used to and don’t seem to be able to put the finger on the why exactly but it seems to me that is just how the mechanics of the dungeons are designed, in a way to punish…
Back in legion i made a demon hunter and been tanking a lil’ bit with her, enjoyed the mobility and stuff so i made it my alt, then last week i wanted to try the new changes and i must say that for the first time after i’ve been back into the game i’m HAVING FUN, can’t you lot try and do the same with them healers? because now I’m starting to see them healers (yeah, THEM, I’m not one anymore, lmao) must be masochistic to play that thing, unless youre holy pally, ofc.
So yeah, try and do better, I trust you will, you must be smarter than me after all…
PS: I wanted to adress the dev team but cannot post on the US formus where all the real action takes places, I rarely see DEVs talking here… kinda makes me feel like a second class customer :S
