Orc Monk lore

So I love the monk class, and I love being an Orc. However there is so little lore about the class itself more than the Pandaren taught the other races of being a monk.. and that is kind of a big turn off for me.

Is there any more aspect you can put into of being a Orc monk? Inspired by Chen helping the Horde perhaps or anything more into the subject in the aspect od lore

the panderan taught the other races to be monks.

That is the story.

there is no more to it.

EDIT: you could make your own personal story for RP if that is what you are looking for… but i would not expect a lore change for it.

There is very little lore to it other than the Orcs learning from the Pandaren, however the Orcs did have blademasters in the past which were kind-of Monk-ish I guess.

I think those are closer to samurai or something else out of Japanese culture. Hell, blademasters even tend to have Japanese-sounding names.

A highly orcish class is shaman, and shamans and monks are both into meditation and that stuff. Also maybe your orc got into a lot of fistfights. You could build a background story on that, but no official lore.

Yes, but you see - before the CCP got involved Pandaren were actually Japanese as well. If you look back at the very limited art of Pandaren from the early 2000’s you’ll find them in kimonos and the like.

But yeah, really… Orcs have no history of being monks and given their savage nature it’s kind of weird they can be one at all.

that is why they added the line

“me not that kind of orc”

it negates the brutish nature of the race.

Yes i agree

So an Orc Monk is basically a Shaman who uses his fist and inner peace to honor the ancestors and impress the Elements

:slightly_frowning_face: :sob:

Oh that could be a concept, a Orc that was devoted to become a Shaman but failed and instead took the path to become a Monk?

Didn’t know that o.o

That’s my understanding

It works
I mean a Monk (or Noun) is a man (or women) who is a member of a religious order and lives in a monastery, by definition
And anything could be a religious order and have a monastery
:person_shrugging:

everyone are taught by pandaren how to become monks

same with demon hunter that all races are taught by elves

and everyone are taught to become warlocks, paladin, mage, rogue, priest, shaman, druids

Death knights are fallen champions raised by Lich king

Let’s say that whenever you meditated and tried to connect with the elements, you instead heard the August Celestials. Bonus points if you can get alcohol involved.

starting to sound like a biography of my life.

spent my life in peace helping other putting others first…

neglected by my family… and suffered multiple knock backs from people over the years made me a very strong willed and strong physically having to fight myself out of some tough situations off of my own back… turned to booze to cope but only at my lowest.

decided to live a life in peace trying to connect to the natural forces of the world, but only received signs back…

now i just survive day by day , in the knowledge one day it will get better if i keep to the right path.

there is a bigger plot for me in the near future, i can feel it and all the signs point to it…

im just waiting for it.

feel free to use that if u like lol.

I’m not sure if you’ve noticed… but orcs can get… a little angry, rather easily.

Monk is the best class for an orc imo.

if we are talking chinese monks aren’t they all about the flow of chi and the natural order of things?

not very orcish imo…

we talking western monks…

arent they just religious freaks or teachers and mentors or doctors?

This isn’t the one I was thinking of but it fits well enough. There’s one more.

It’s an image with a little Pandaren girl in kimono standing outside, looking longingly into a little tree house iirc. I sortta got half the image in the back of my head but I can’t remember it fully. xD

EDIT: The site on which it was hosted was called Sons of the Storm…

But it’s gone now since they nearly all left Blizzard. Such a shame…

EDIT2: Lol…

He just made that. I mean…

Look, for everyone who says Pandaren don’t belong in Warcraft… they’re Samwise’s love-child and he literally invented the whole game’s art style and, together with Metzen, its world and locations. They very, very belong here.

Chi is life-force. It’s the fifth element in the universe of WoW, which if I recall correctly, they established in that lore book “chronicle” the first volume.

Learning how to draw this force out and empower your attacks is a martial art that was inherently discovered by the Pandaren when they rose up as slaves, against their mogu enslavers.

You don’t have to align with Pandaren values at all.
The class is as liberal in fantasy as hunters, rogues, warriors and mages.

Anyone can be a monk, but just like real life, not everyone excels at what they like to do in any impressive kind of way.

It is practically whatever you want the class to be.

Hunters have a connection to beasts and by extension, nature it self and they are skilled at using just about any weapon, especially the bow and arrow.

Rogues are typically assassins, but can also be warriors in a sense, who considers themselves opportunists. Anything to win.

Warriors draw strength from their rage and excel at using all weapons, especially the heavy and up-front kind.

Monks draw strength from their inner self and outwards to manifest lifeforce that empowers their attacks: This is also why their attacks can manifest as lightning or colorful, fiery kicks. They excel at fisticuffs and spirituality.

Don’t forget to get the Jojo SFX addon btw. it makes you an objectively better Monk player.
