I realise this may be an on off topic for years but hear me out the argent crusade has Orcs amongst other things, the Orc herritage armour questline shows their a very spiritual people so why not ? Zandalari trolls can be paladins plus orcs can be priests so its not like they can’t harness the light…heres the thing though the light isn’t really a cultural thing for orcs I think the class should be open to Orc priests and warriors via questline that solidifies the need for Orc paladins I doubt blizzard would ever do multi class but say level 10/20 you can prestige and become a paladin?
Non heroic classes should be available to ALL races at this point if you ask me.
I don’t agree here, neither does Blizzard. Imagine the time it requires to create druid forms for each single race huh.
Where’s my Gnome Druid, Gnome Paladin, Gnome Shaman blizzard
Where are night and void elves paladins?
The Void Elves would/should explode and the Night Elves prefer the Moon.
Tauren prefer the Sun, and yet we got holy cows. Zandalari worship spiders and bats and frogs and still got Paladins. On the other hand we have 2 actual NE Priests who became PAladins in Legion, but we’re still waiting for Blizzard to catch up with their own wriiting
Tbf they should all get in line behind Forsaken druids. At least we finally got the tauren rogues.
In fairness, that’s only two Night Elves. Remember, we don’t judge a race by the actions of the few.
Now, speaking of “holy warrior” orders of the different races and how they fit the Paladin archetype, Tauren are assumed to worship an offshoot of the Light rather than an aspect of the natural world. It rather sucks that it’s like that, but their “Earthmother” could be assumed to be the titan Azeroth herself, who’s kind tend to sinc up with the Light anyway. Unless there actually is a different god-like entity dealing with the natural world that’s encrusting the world-soul.
For Zandalari, they make no deals with the Light. They work off patronage of a regal loa. They are Paladin-like, similar to Zandalari Dinomancer or Kul’Tiran Thornspeaker “druids”.
So the question isn’t “can Night Elves be Paladins” but actually “do the Night Elves have any equivalent order of warriors?” At the moment, no. They don’t. It’s a shame, but the lore needs a massive shunt forward before it’s sensible.
Right now, it’s like asking why a Scandinavian wasn’t a Samurai, or why medieval Iroquois weren’t Buddhist or worshipped the ancient Egyptian god, Sett. It’s how their culture worked at the time. Night Elves just don’t buy into such a specialist class.
For now.
Tauren didn’t either before they got Paladins in Cataclysm. The whole “Sunwalker” thing came out of nowhere, because Tauren were the only race where they would have to least bend the lore to make them fit.
So yes, why can’t a Scandinavian become a samurai when there are already two examples of Scandinavians being just that, while it’s apparently perfectly fine for Celts to become samurai with no real precedence for them ever being such a thing?
And I’m not saying that that was good. It was bad, but not completely jarring as the “Sunwalker” is more understandable than “Hey, the cow lads started this reading this Bible thing about a bright lamp or something.”
The Scandinavian example is pointing out that the Norse did not have samurai. Their culture never founded them. They never thought of having that kind of soldiery. They had their own, but in a completely different style and effect.
Celts didn’t have samurai either. It’s more like the Celts creating their own raiders.
You are right but it’s because Blizzard is lazy af.
We will most likely never have all (non hero)classes available to all races, but if anything, the main reason is because they simply don’t want to bother creating unique totems and druid skins (among others) for all the other races. Lore reasons? Oh please…lore went trough the window a long while ago.
Orc Paladin sounds like sacrilege.
SUUURE, why not. Orc paladins seems alright! exactly like taurens rogues. One more trash bag thrown in this whole mess of a game retail become, wont hurt.
Lore reasons don’t work anymore. Remember - WoW is currently a game where the question of death is no longer a question. Everyone knows what the afterlife is, or there is no reason why they should not. All the gods based around death (even Bwondzambi) should soon find themselves quite unpopular, as the Arbitier of Death is the one truly judging and sending you to your afterlife.
Now, why would you pray to the light to save you, when you can simply just die… take the portal back from Oribos and walk back out into the world? One could argue that the Arbiter wouldn’t allow the ‘dead’ to just do that. But at this point, if someone you loved died - why wouldn’t you either a) Go and get them back, you know where they have gone. or b) What would stop you from just following. There is no question if there is an afterlife. It is confirmed, and it is not fleeting as your mortal coil, it is eternal.
Thing about warcraft lore is that nothing really matters, it is a shredded videogame carpet to pretend there is something to what we are doing. This is fine. Yet, at this point it is so holed out and so in pices that there are no real reason we can’t see undead paladins or warlock lightforged.
Nothing makes sense. The rules are gone. Sylvanas did break the chains that held over this existence. Shadowlands proved the Jailer to be right - and his 8D masterplan succeeded making WoWs walls of lore fluid like water.
Very well said.
I think in DF they should just said that shadowlands was just a bad dream and it never really happen. So we could save the lore in this game.
how would that save the lore it would make it way worse XD Lore wise I think they should Kill off or resurrect wild gods like Goldrinn or Ursoc with the light , we’ve always had this big light vs void thing on the horizon and it doesn’t make sense to just be on one side with all that you have actual lore around An’she “The Light does not discriminate based on race and does not truly bend to the will of others (no matter what groups may think otherwise), and since most of the tauren people already embody the virtues often held in great regard by many paladins, it is not difficult to envision that the tauren could easily obtain the powers of the Light.” I’d say after saurfang and the way the orcs are rebuilding their culture now in Azeroth wouldn’t be hard for them to build or gains those virtues.
Damn, imagine putting effort into your MMORPG that you charge 14 euro a month for to millions of players.
Really shame this is such a small company and they wouldn’t be able to design forms for every race. It would break the bank.
But hey atleast they will release a store mount or another assemble every so many months that you can buy for 25 euro!
Ehm, really - undead paladin, blood elf shaman, gnome druid…? Cant you see how stupidly it sounds? These are combinations just like from some free fun server honestly… I personally dont really wanna see such ridiculous combinations in retail at all - I swear be it like 4-5 years ago, you would be lynched hard for such opinion “all classes to all races” lol
I mean maybe not really how long ago was legion if you can have a light infused dreadlord then why not a light infused forsaken especially when undead priests have been around since classic, Gnome druid would be easy to do and badass to play. I don’t really get how it can be seen as stupid when there are classes in the game applied to races that are clearly capable of doing similar things so and orc can be a priest and a warrior but not a paladin and the same for the forsaken then they can join the argent crusade as holy warriors but not be paladins when the training the same as paladins who were basically just warriors to begin with…like Alonsus foal still a priest after turning undead he made the paladins…
