Orc Priests

What’s the story behind Orc priests?..

I looked up one day and there they were and it caught me by surprise. Woah, that’s something new.

I’m not judging, I’m genuinely interested in how they came to be and how one would roleplay one.

They are tied to the Shadowmoon clan, who use void. So, like void elves or majority of forsaken, I suppose they can only be shadow specced. There are not any real boundaries, but I guess they don’t like the light after what happened in AU Draenor.

Could the orcs use the light if they wanted? Most likely. Post-TBC light is just a force like everything else, with dumb space windchimes on top of it.

So they shouldn’t use Holy light?
That’s rather confining…
:frowning:

Not really. The only Priests come from the Shadowmoon Clan (although all the clans on Draenor seem to have merged into the Mag’har, so the Priests are no longer Shadowmoon-exclusive), and they studied the Void, and nothing else. A Mag’har Priest using the Light would be unreasonable since they were hunted by the Lightbound for a long time and had to flee their ancestral lands because of them. They seem to have a strong dislike for anything related to the Lightbound (e.g. Geya’rah disliking the Draenei even though the MU Draenei are not related to the Lightbound at all). However, for RP purposes, I am sure you can think of a story that would justify a Mag’har Priest using the Light.

Yeah, i’d highly recommend that if immersion is your deal for getting into Light-wielding as an Orc, you’ll have to use your creative liscence. Simply due to the fact that we have more conflicting evidence rather than supporting evidence.

If anything, just go with the 'ol Argents doing something with your character. We see them around anyway as NPC’s, so it’s not that far-fetched of an idea.

To be fair, the Light should be universal at this point because they’ve worked so hard to push it in past expansions that you could just be an orcish convert to the Light and it would be perfectly reasonable.

The Light is tangible and you can see its effects, I say that Orcs having very strong willpower to begin with makes them perfect candidates to wield the Light.

I appreciate the feedback. I really do.

Awehu, you mentioned NPCs. As far as I can see we don’t have any real prominent Orc priests wandering around there.

The only Orc NPC I could find (and it’s a long shot) is Jeeda from Stonetalon. But she’s listed as a Witch Doctor Apprentice and is not a Mag’har.

I think that the greater Mag’har impact on the overall warcraft story is still yet to come. I wonder if an Orc priest will become more prominent when that arrives, although you would think that they would have already introduced main characters in the initial campaign. Perhaps they didn’t want to take any shine away from Geya’rah?

I think they’ll likely take the route of “some Shadowmoon orcs taught the other orcs priestly things”. As I said, it hardly matters because Legion makes it apparent that race flair on Light wielding is dead. The Sunwalkers seem to accept that they’re using the light, so do the Tauren Sages, etc.

We’ve reached a point where your orc can simply convert/train in the use of the Light without it being tied to racial themes.

Sadly is the only thing I can point out. It’s not solid, but it’s ‘there’. I would love to be proven wrong and that there’s more out there however.

But Richter points it out well that many of these new classes to new races fill a certain niche of that race and nothing else.

They’re culturally appropriating Kaldorei culture by being priests who get their power from the moon. Just another slap in the face from Blizzard.

Also they get to be represented in Brewfest.

That’s right, keep mocking and bullying me. I’m sick to death of Forsaken mains harassing Kaldorei fans over everything that’s happened to them.

Would like to see Orc paladins as well so I can play out my Garrosh fantasy lol.

Not before Night Elves. We were the first Paladins on Azeroth and lost our spotlight to Humans, as if they didn’t already get enough.

Alright, I will pretend this is relevant to my post.

Orcs shouldn’t be Paladins at all. Let alone before Night Elfs.

And so what is your point? I am not having a pissing contest on who deserves to have paladins first. I would just like to see them.

But Orc Paladins make no sense.

In what regards? AU Orcs seem to have embraced the Light (willingly or otherwise), they have Draenei mentors who can teach them it with thousands of years experience and AU seemly has time dilatation (or whatever it is to make it fast forward 30 or so years).

I don’t see why they can’t be paladins as they have up to 30 years worth of both exposure and training within the light. Why couldn’t or shouldn’t they be paladins?

Because Paladins are the good guys and Orcs are evil.

Turalyon himself states as much when fighting Ogrim.
