I plan to use my paladin who has both professions for farming materials for gold.
I was wondering if BFA like previous expansions has a larger price on the herbs due to them being in constant demand as an ingredient for consumables
Well it is usually the most beneficial to roll both gathering professions to a single character since you are able to track both notes at the same time.
But yes, usually herbs tent to have a higher price and sell a bit more steadily through the expansion. But there are times when the ore price gets a bit of a boost, most recently when they boosted the crafted gear score to 400 and people seemed to gear up old alts with the new affordable crafted gear. But alas they did bump the WQ-gear to about the same level making the crafted gear a bit more unwanted.
After harvesting and mining on my paladin I find that somehow Monelite is in a steady demand unlike with the more rare ores.
Meanwhile in the case of the herbs it is the anchor weed that sells better with the more common herbs that occupy the same spawn points as the Anchor weed being of a much lower value due to the great supply.
I have both of them. When I do world quests, I gather herbs and ores (no flying yet).
Both sell very quickly. The gold can cover repairs, flasks, runes, etc…
That’s because Monelite is actually used in a lot of consumable crafted items for Blacksmithing - stirrups, hoofplates, keys etc. Storm Silver is only used in very minimal quantities to craft current BoE gear and Platinum is used for quite litarally nothing in 8.3. You don’t even prospect it for Jewelcrafting since any gem that doesn’t come from Osmenite is also completely useless and I imagine Engineering doesn’t have many more uses for the ‘rare’ ores either.
Material rarities that make no sense - another hallmark of the complete and utter sh!tshow that is BfA profession design. It’s not even just Blacksmithing, my scribe is sitting on thousands of Viridescent pigment, the rarest of the three you get from Kult Tiras/Zandalar herbs, that is used for literally nothing since patch 8.1 released. ‘Rare’ bones, skins and scales are likewise just vendor trash by this point.
So basically
Monelite is Moneylite
Anchor weed is like a spice worth several times is weight in gold.
The herbs that share spawn with the anchor weed are overrfarmed those that do not are somewhat better
and the storm silver and the platinum are for donations to charity…
I will assume that the resources in Nazjatar have some decent value
Did I got that right?
Ultimately it depends on your server. And if you have access to skygolem / hoofplates. If you are in connected defias for example herbs are a waste of time however on doom hammer the marker is great for herbs. My advice is to get an add-on called worth it along with the tsm desk top client. It will give you gold / hour predictions based on popular farms

So it is not just an addon but it has an independent client? interesting.
There is one thing that is certain about my server, it is that they smoke a lot of Anchor weed cause they sell between 100 and 212 gold a piece.
What the client does is download all the historic and current data for your server on the ah. I’m not sure why they didn’t integrate it into the normal tsm add-on but you need it for worth it to function
As for anchor weed if you have a spare alch lieing around make sure you use the daily transmute. The herbs useually cost nothing and they yield 10 anchor weed a day
I can tell you right now tho you will make a lot more money on zin anthid. It’s currently 1/3 of the price of anchor weed and much easier to farm.
If you ever want a quick reference for the price of commodities check out theunderminejournal .com it has helpful little subsections for different professions

I had not noticed that transmutation, I will look into it. I do in fact an alchemist at a high enough skill for these things. I had benched him cause the flasks were not selling as well as the weeds.
I had not tried Zin anthid yet cause my harvesting paladin was literally leveling from 110 to 120 with harvesting and mining. Now he is 120 so I can start Zin anthids too.

It’s because addons can only modify your game interface and alter what is displayed in it, they can’t make or store databases on their own. The TSM app is gathering data in the background and making a database on the TSM server, the addons are interfacing with that database via the app and simply displaying its contents in-game.
This is also why Raider io addon needs to be constantly updated to have up-to-date info - it doesn’t use an app to interface with the RIO data so the actual addon gets periodically updated with the current database and re-uploaded to Twitch or Curseforge or wherever you download it from.
