Ore Recovery: Worst World Quest Ever

The “Courier Mission: Ore Recovery” world quest in the Ringing Deeps is the worst world quest ever made. It’s waaaaay too hard.

  • You have to pick up 10 ore while not being mounted. If you mount, you lose the ore.
  • You don’t see in the UI how many ore you’re actually carrying, so you need to take mental note. It’s an invisible resource.
  • There are tons of high-HP mobs around the ore, so you have to spend a lot of time fighting mobs just so you can pick up ore. And sometimes more mobs spawn when you pick up ore. GLHF as a healer.
  • After running with the ores for a few meters, you start stumbling and you lose ores again. If you’re quick, you can pick some back up, but you’ll probably lose some. Oh, and because you don’t have a way to see how much ore you’re carrying, you might now have 9 instead of the required 10.
  • You have to carry the ores like 500 meters to a different part of the zone. It’s a looooong distance.

This stupid quest made me rage harder than when I have to heal the worst PuGs in M+, and I eventually gave up.

UPDATE: OK, there’s apparently a buff which shows how much ore you’re carrying. But who would expect to have to look at some tiny buff in the top-right corner of the screen, when 99.999% of all quests in WoW work by having you pick something up that either counts toward a quest tracking counter, or by having you receive an item that lands in your inventory? :rage:

Literally **** this quest so hard…sometimes the stabilisation cast doesn’t do anything, then I had all ten pieces which dropped and wouldn’t pick up…I mean, talk about frustrating…

Yeah, that stabilize action button didn’t seem to do :poop: for me.

Ohh, OK, didn’t notice that, thanks!

Sounds like one for the Ignore list.
There are so many WQs that I just avoid in most expansions. I might do them all once just to guage wihich ones. In DF I liked the Field of Ferocity and I liked the firing arrows at apples or whatever it was. But I avoided so many others with low spawns or fiddly mechanics.

It’s not hard (imo) but a lot of time consuming and honestly we have enough time to waste on other things

Would the quest be fun (or at least tolerable) if it was to collect 3 ores rather than 10? 6 even…
10 does seem like a lot for such a quest.

Not just issues with this quest.
It seems they made other quests/WQ more annoying also. Epically with items you got to collect with long respawn time and the items aren’t shared between players.

Not sure what they’re trying to do with expansion.

It’s in your buff area.

You are supposed to click the “stabilize” button and then click it again when it gets to the 3rd area of the bar, like an evoker spell.

I did hate that quest, mainly due to the mob density and the end bit is annoying to get to. I will try to be more efficient next time but otherwise it’s going on the NOPE list!

You also do not have to carry all 10 at once; the more you carry, the more it affects your stability. Do it in two trips of 5 ore at a time, using the stabilizer, and it’s a WQ that takes about 5 to 10 minutes with little to no hassle.

Yeah, I have zero patience for quests like this one. Happily dropped it after a minute and moved on to the next one.

I did it earlier, it’s like it was obnoxiously designed to just be annoying with zero redeeming qualities.

The quest isn’t difficult, but it’s frustrating and time consuming.

  • Having to stop every 10 seconds to use a button in order to avoid dropping everything is not engaging or interesting gameplay.
  • The drop-off point is at the end of a bridge on top of a hill, making it a very long walk (remember, you can’t mount). Even more so if you’re carrying ore, slowing your movement speed.
  • The place is swarming with mobs and often fast respawns, slowing you down even further.

In it’s current form it is not worth doing whatsoever unless you REALLY need the rewards. Don’t waste your time with this.

I landed and instantly got killed by a horde of mobs coming out of nowhere and skipped it. :sunglasses:

I got annoyed with the quest, went to check on forums if I am doing something wrong. From what I see it is just a really bad quest. Abandoned and moved on… not wasting my time on something so bad!

Had the same thoughts about doing this the 1st time, very annoying quest.

Just like awakening the machine. wave fights are just boring. Not to talk about useless rewards.
