Orgrimmar continuity and liveliness update

As someone who plays both factions, I must say I feel that the Horde’s cities are suffering from a slight continuity issues. We’ve gone through 3 or 4 warchief, but we haven’t a single monument to show for it, but after Alliance lost their king Stormwind got an entire area rebuilt in his honor.

Then after Sylvanas’ betrayal we replaced the Warchief with a Council, but our Grunts still walk around orgrimmar yelling “For the Warchief.”

Furthermore, it would be really great to see more vanity NPCs added to Orgrimmar. When walking around Stormwind, it feels like an actually living city, there are NPCs walking around, talking and interacting with each other.

In Orgrimmar we have a few Dracthyr talking about a purring cat, a guard jumping over a mailbox and yelling “For the Warchief.” and an easter egg of Kratos and Atreus talking near a pond. But apart from that, it’s mostly just static NPCs that stands around, doing nothing.

Fully agree that the Horde cities are long overdue an update. It’s so sad hopping over to my Horde characters and seeing just how little they’ve bothered with Orgrimmar for all this time. The place has barely changed and feels like a minor settlement in comparison to Stormwind. Then you’ve got Silvermoon City that’s still stuck in 2006 with it’s trees that have 3 polygons each.

Really hope they get updated during the Worldsoul Saga.

Agree with that 100% as someone who has Ally alts i find stormwind feels like a real city unlike orgrimmar which is pale with almost nothing going on and boring 5 and a half buildings … while stormwind has so much to it.

That’s just about the only thing though.

Of which at least 2 don’t deserve a monument. And not all of those 3 or 4 are dead either. One is doing fine and still active and the other’s doing dailies in the Maw.

But hey; I’m all for an Orgimmar revamp. As long as Stormwind also gets one.
Let’s make the two big capitals, actual big capitals.

I hope both cities get a major overhaul, graphically, layout, everything. I think of all the places in the game the two major faction hubs should be updated. After World Soul saga hopefully we can get some old world updates, hell cata 2.0 would be welcome at this point.

Honestly, Stormwind doesn’t need a Revamp, it’s already the most updated faction city in the entire game. An Alliance City that does deserve some love however, is Ironforge.

I completely disagree. Most of it looks horribly dated.
Besides; since we’ve been getting good sized cities in the game, SW and Org feel way too small for capitals.

Technically that would be Bel’ameth.

Sure, but that wasn’t the point of what I said.
Org and SW are essentially THE capitals of their factions. That’s why they both deserve special treatment imo.

There’s many other cities that could use an update. Hell, most of the world could use an update. But that’s beside the point.

Oh you think? You know you can fit Orgrimmar 3 times inside Stormwind due to the size difference?

Which is why my post is primarily focused on Orgrimmar in this case. Like when Embasseys were added, Hordes was dumped into an existing part of the city, the alliance got a massive area behind stormwind with all kinds of little vanity stuff, like a farm, the picnic area.

Which is fine. But I care about Stormwind more.
So I’m not opposed to Orgrimmar getting a big upgrade; but I want one for Stormwind as well.

An area which feels completely out of place. I would rather have it be integrated into the actual city instead of being dumped out in the back.

Look to Boralus for what a capital should feel like. Imo anyway.

Oh don’t even get me started on Boralus and Zuldazar, those cities still piss me off to this day.

Boralus, Mission Table, Portals, Quests NPCs, all within 100 yards of each other.

Zuldazar, we had to use a freaking Flight Master to get between our Portals and Mission Table.

I have spent thousands gold during that Expansion, just to do what Alliance could do by simply walking. Which is also why I switched to Alliance halfway through that Expansion, simply because of how much more convenient it was, not having to jump through hoops simply to use our expanion features.

Preach!!!

We had to have a flightpath to get to ours!

I would remove the masked swearing, it’s against the CoC

Done, thanks for the warning ^^

I would like to see a liveliness update on the cities as well.
But I would like to suggest an update for 4 cities to bring them up to current times.
Since the last time our cities had an update we had not received our allied races, now they may walk in the city or are crammed here and there to represent them somehow. But I would guess that Stormwind wants to add another district for the allied races?
But perhaps Ironforge takes in some allied races as well, like not all of the allied races end up in Stormwind and enjoy the atmosphere of Ironforge more.

To that extend I would like to see Ogrimmar extended with additional places for the allied races, that housings are actually finished and no longer is a construction site.
And perhaps some rather want to stay in Thunder Bluff.
I for example can imagine that the Dracthyr enjoy Thunder Bluff, so high up in the sky.
Aside that this city could use a little update too (those lifts for example) Maybe add another Bluff, or if that is really a no go, perhaps there could be some real-estate below the surface of the current bluffs?

All 4 cities could have mixed guards of different races patrolling.
Additional NPC’s to make it feel alive. So it is not just a Stormwind or Ogrimmar but also Ironforge and Thunder Bluff with such NPC’s and vendors.
Perhaps have some Dracthyr join with areal defences? (although if I believe the human guards from Stormwind, I think they will reject the Dracthyr help for a while still)

But this is just my wish for a future update on our cities.

I know Blizzard is probably resistant to a full revamp of these cities, as much as I’d like to see it…but these smaller updates sound very reasonable and would at least give the impression that these secondary/tertiary cities aren’t completely forgotten.

I dont play much horde but i do agree with what you say, however, i do also wish that there would be more focus on the other captial cities in the game. Stormwind and Orgrimmar always steal the spotlight, every time there is a new expansion we are summoned to Sw and Org, New features like trading posts and portal rooms are placed in Sw and Org, Why not make all capitals equal and let players choose their favorite. While Orgrimmar is indeed a little behind Stormwind, all the other capitals are pretty much ghost towns, completely abandoned. Give them an overhaul and bring them back to life.
And while we are at it, remove the no flight zones in Silvermoon and The Exodar, why is this even still a thing?

Yea that was kind of what I meant too.

Just give all the cities the stuff they’re missing, like tmg npc.

The problem is the manner of the departure of your leadership.
Thrall retired so is still alive, usually statues wait for the subject to be dead. But I guess the horde don’t go by convention.
Grom went evil, doesn’t deserve any honours.
Vol Jin did die in the service of Azeroth leading the Horde, so sure a statue could be in order. BUT, he did inflict Sylvanas on us all, so maybe not.
Slyvanas, still alive, went evil and tried to destroy the entirely of existence. No statue for her.

The point should be not to have statues or memorials of fallen leaders, but just an overall pass on all cities to represent the time that has passed as well.

With all the allied races added since the last update to the capitals, it has become a bit crowded in Stormwind and Ogrimmar as those were getting the NPC’s added.

My thoughts were simple, update not only the capitals but also the other cities, bring all of them up to par to current times, have some of the allied races settle there as well and not just in the capital so it feels that they have spread out more.

So for you in Stormwind, that there is another district or 2 for the allied races, and that other races thought it was better to go to Ironforge. (if you think the Dwarven people there would accept them)

I for sure bet the Dracthyr on the horde side would love Thunderbluff, perhaps it would remind them of the “home away from home”.
Perhaps another bluff can be added, but if that is not possible, then perhaps under the surface of those bluffs they can dig some rooms for housings to be added with areal access on the sides and one stairway from the bluff’s surface down, for the non flying people to visit.
Plus I bet some Vulpera NPC would love to climb those bluffs too.
I mean, the elevators in Thunderbluff have no rope pully system like other elevators in later expansions got.

At least my biggest wish is to keep every city relevant up to the future expansions to come. Let the city trainers also have the crafting table, not just in the new zone.
