Every city not Stormwind needs an update.
Sometimes i wonder why someone play the game, you cant say anything positive about the game.
They should move org north into azshara. You can stretch the valley of wisdom, spirits, strength and honor nicely around the now empty areas. Have a big draw bridge left to ashenvale. Huge iron dock area on the east coast. The abandoned thick fortified furbolg gate into the winterspring mountains could be cleft of the shadows. Would be a way better updated org.
And suramar city is amazing, it should replace silvermoon city which is a horrible 1990 graphics cheap trash pile, only out trashed by the “draenei SPAcEShiP” polygon hot fever nightmare. The exodar should look like the castle in WOD shadowmoon valley, east coast, forgot its name. That’s a pretty good starting point.
UC could take over Gilneas and make it the new Lordaeron. The current UC vibes are kitchy tim burton cringe. Every time I got to visit UC I’m waiting for the circus music to pop off with tilted dutch camera angles and clowns parading around in 80’s halloween costumes. Bleh.
I stay for the awesome community ofc.
The only thing that gets me to play these days is the trading post but even that lost some of its sparkle since it was introduced and some of my friends who remain and play the game.
Sadly roleplay has also taken a dive since the big exodus of players in late bfa and especially shadowlands has taken its toll and we haven’t really recovered since with no adjustments or additions being made to rp servers.
More locations like the docks the OP suggested for flavour and reworks of some older settlements or areas would be cool, but I feel they should coincide that with catering a little to the people that actively use those spots since years.
RP has potential cause wow has add-on support and its easily one of the biggest selling points considering no other mmo offers the same level of accessability. (No dedicated servers, charater sheets, mapscan function, sharding issues/instancing, etc)
Blizzard just so far hasnt done much, if anything to help it along… no rp mode toggle similar to warmode, server merge for places with great faction imbalance or lowpop, rp utility changes or frequently requested features etc… it’s just people slowly leaving one by one cause the communities on those servers are in a downwards spiral that keeps going… people leaving as a result of less people.
And that is still happening -after- insisting roleplayers be represented on the community/player council to advocate for change which is yet to come.
orcs cant swim, according to lore so only shallow pools in orgrimmar
Oh damn, yeah, make the damn Goblin cannon island an actual port for Orgrimmar! Never thought of that!
Better fortify the actual valleys, yes, but expand the tribal metropolis north! I like it!
Cities like Suramar, Boralis and Shadowforge City need an instanced version that Alliance (or even Horde) players can easily get to. Cities no longer in flux, but actually settled and allied to their respective Faction. Liveable. No regular hostile mobs or whatever.
Moving the Forsaken to Gilneas City would have been absolutely hilarious and potentially a brilliant way to piss Greymane off. It could have been part of the whole point of why Greymane forced a reclamation effort in the Faction War. Shame it never came to be.
UC and other places like Silvermoon and the Exodar do need pampering. A full face lift rather than just a texture upgrade. UC has more skulls than Skeletor’s living room. Technically, that’s pretty weird - why would the living Lordaeron people build their sewers like that?
It’s still campy charming though, so why not keep the skulls, but just toned back a bit?
Exodar should have been merged with the Vindicaar. Enough time has passed to allow the Draenei, deft builders, to actually create a decent (and healthy) landscape.
Plus, it’d have been cool to have either a Warfront or flashpoint/Faction War raid there.
Yeah I wished for Quel’thalas and Barrens battlefront too.
Barrensbattlefront would mean this stupid Exploring Kalimdor writer would not just have written Status Quo and so we would be able to get finally Honor’s Stand and Mor’shan Rampart back.
Quel’thalas Battlefront would mean finally a rebuild Silvermoon with updated Texture that would allow us to fly there and at the Draeneiislands.
Sadly, RP tends not to be taken seriously. The assumption is that they’ll be full of ideas that either break the game or go against the desires of the majority of the playerbase.
Of course, RP mode could surely help. Not exactly a mode for breaking/twisting the current game rules but a place with better options for RP.
All the revamps would be cool, as long as we get the NPCs and “trivial” player interaction…ables, that help initiate immersion.
Imagine in an RP mode that a designated “Dungeon Master” could trigger certain events within an area. Not like trigger a loot boss or something, but an NPC starting a barfight, or a Tauren bard trying to interupt whoever is sitting in the RPers specific seats in that area.
It’d be funny to have a joint warfront going on - Silvermoon AND the Exodar both being attacked at once. Portals directly to either warzone meaning the battles are effectively one and the same.
While a Mulgore/Barrens Warfront would be a semi-Horde victory later into the expansion, I’d have the Exodar-Silvermoon Warfront end cannonically in a stalemate, with neither force being able to take the other’s city.
Alliance retake Gilneas and repel attacks from a new zone that’d have been behind that massive door in Shadowforge City. The Night Elves would almost retake Dark Shore with the help of the Exodar, but shenanigans are pulled and they are forced into an armistice as the Horde actually takes Stormwind. Ooh, dramatic end to the expansion! Boom!
Of course, the Alliance get it back shortly into the next expansion, so they wouldn’t have to stress in Gilneas for long!
All the old faction capitals are seriously outdated, except Stormwind.
In part it’s what people already do. Using storytellers or dms for events that can change per day/week dending on whos hosting.
Often using a guilds own take on a dnd’like system to then fight through whatever encounters someone has set up (using raidmarkers to mark enemy positions) and tackling skillchecks.
Pretty flexible systems and my own guilds one even has its own addon supporting it, written by one of our own.
Its still pretty barebones sadly and people are forced to play pretend as soon as you try doing anything that isnt exactly how it is in the game (which we established isnt lore accurate anymore at all, older zones especially).
So it would be nice if they made adjustments little by little to correct and expand the world. People really love hearthstones more colorful interpretation of warcraft which I feel WoW kinda lost, at least when it comes to previous expansions.
Especially Silvermoon. Half of the city is still in ruins, other is a card board thing where if you would see it from above, you would stare into the void.
Eh that whas not really the plan and not what I ment.
As seeing above reason why are not allowed to fly in the TBC starter zones is Silvermoon being outdated. It whas originally planed to be already there in Classic but that never went through.
So Exodar whas created already with flying in the future in mind but Quel’thalas never got a visual update so they locked flying for both.
