Honestly, it’s pretty appalling how neglected Orgrimmar is as supposedly the capital of a major faction.
Ignoring the many issues inside the city itself*, what about the outskirts of the city?
The so-called “docks” are made up of a single dirt track and a jetty. That’s it. There’s even a damn cave filled with hostile cultists right beside it!!!
I understand that the Horde are tribal, but come on Blizzard! They are able to throw up great fortifications anywhere any new expansion requires, but Orgrimmar is left to wallow.
Can we at least get some decent architecture out the front so the place looks acceptable by the time Baine or Lor’themar “decide” to go bat- crazy evil and the city gets sieged for the 3rd time?
*NPC vendors just sitting around in the dirt. Important portal room right inside the constantly breeched front gate. Only one decent gate. Areas only accessible by flying. Unused wasteland. Etc.
silvermoon is still the same after 50 years and people still can’t fly in the city i think in comparison orgrimmar is doing great lol but yeah , all major cities need an update again
I agree, it needs to change.
I get that Orcs don’t really sail that much, but we have the blood elves and forsaken that sail from eastern kingdoms and we have the zandalari now.
I mean even darkspear are island trolls so they have boats, although smaller ones.
I get that Orgrimmar is a natural fortress surrounded by the mountains but at least clear the path and make a suitable road and build out the docks with some more defenses.
I also liked when in legion we had npcs standing along the road between the docks and the gate, perfect for some vendors to set up and sell to visitors.
Put some shamans and druids to work on bringing life back to the desert too.
IIRC Orgrimmar was designed late into development, after Stormwind, and they basically had very little time to create it hence why it feels so undercooked.
I’d go a step further and say that both continents, capitals included, should get a face life maybe in a future expansion.
What really bums me out is that BFA could have been that expansion.
Have the BFA we got split into 3 separate expansions and have the middle one revamp the old world.
All settlements, strategic locations and points of interest would have been updated. Places associated with either faction made into a place worth fighting for.
The major cities would be revamped too to be actually impactful cities. Even bring back Gilneas and Gnomeregan!
Complete waste of resources and developer time.
Nobody will visit these places anyway.
You would come to visit maybe once or twice, say “neat”, then leave and never come again.
What would be the point?
Well, that’s one of the reasons why BFA would have been perfect. Bring war to these areas. Maybe not Warfronts (unless they actually did them better this time) but giving reason for people to be there on top of the revamp would be perfect.
Blizzard really does need to start adding reasons to be in older zones again. Not force people there. Not just go once for a visit and then never again. Actually want to go there.
Otherwise, we’ve not been playing the “World” of Warcraft since Cata.
What would be the point to rework that muddy hellhole? Becauae the “faction capital” nonsense?
As soon as a new expansion hits, everyobdy run laps in the central, like in Oribos and now Veldraken.
Especially if it have an AH
The only thing why palyers go to the “capital”, becasue they have to, either quest, either AH or either the portal room.
If the Devs would put a transmogrification NPC, an AH and a portal room and an NPC to turn in quests (and gives daily perhaps) with a mission table and with a few traning dummy in a neet little room in the Void, people would use that and every other city would be a ghost town
Roleplay.
The Roleplayer use it for a social hub, playing with each other and doing impro theather and that even without any new content. So for the Roleplayers this rework would be a one time investment that would keep them long sustained as long Blizz bothers to develop lore tidbits that could be used by general public.
As a Roleplayer trust me, we could use our own immagination to fill the gaps
Sure, it would be marvelous to have proper RP spots!
My comment you replied was a sarcasm to Fistus’ reply
But lets face it, Warcraft will probaly never have a rework, especially not to please the RP community - to be honest we will be lucky if Blizz stops butchering the Lore even further
The real crime is the Vulpera theme tune that plays way too frequently in the Valley of Strength. Not even that I’m a hater, it’s just a massive shame.
I’d have loved to have seen Thunderbluff updated for BFA. Actually have a warfront staged there against the Alliance coming in from the Theramore landing sites.
Through the massive gate and all. The city is already decently defendable by being top of a set of pillars, but they could have done more to make people want to be there.
Games, tasks for currency to eventually get transmog and vanity items. Very particular power grinds. Stuff to make people want to be there, rather than forced to.
