Hej, since its no longer #nochange WOTLK and now its #lotchange WOTLK - how would you feel about bringing back an original Alterac Valley. In original WOW i started playing to late and didnt really experience it to the fullest cos they change it - pretty much to what it is now.
Maybe there is someone who remebers it in full - im not one of this people, but i remember going “WOOOOOOOOOW” once i joined it for the first time. It was nothing like AV is now, there were summonable bosses that helped players attack, lots of elite NPC’s, lots of quests, even mining nodes and fishing spots 
Like i said i didnt really experienced it cos i played it like 2 times before they changed it but from what i remember it was great PVP/PVE experience.
Battles took even more then a day, but you could have leave anytime you wanted, you still got honor for time spent - think it was in patch 2,3 when they added reporting afking players - if the group was organised it could have been done lot faster, like hour or so…
Anyway i would like to relive it, maybe there are others like me?
Old AV was great, but these days people just want to PvE the BG in 5 minutes. Most boring content overall imo. I disliked the patch where they put a limit on AV respawns and then they added a timer to WG.
If you don’t have time for a long BG, just go Arathi or Eye of the Storm. WG timer is okay for me these days but at least give as one BG (AV) where it’s a battle over several hours and adjust the honor rewards so it can still compete.
So yes, i wouldn’t mind.
Yes, but unfortunately Blizzard decided to not add ‘‘old AV’’ into Classic (vanilla) either, so we never had the original AV experience in the Classic project to begin with, doubt they will go back and add it back in.
Only way I could see them doing it to be honest, is in retail. If/When they decide to give ‘‘AV’’ a graphical update like they did for many of the other older BGs, perhaps they could make a ‘‘New AV BG’’, perhaps even like a seasonal thing that is available to queue up to now and then.
The twist is, this new and updated AV is one that is pretty much similar to the ‘‘old school’’ philosophy AV, and as for the graphical update, I would very much like to see a ‘‘summer’’ version of AV, imagine an AV where all the snow is gone, and instead you have rolling hills, water in the lakes and rivers flowing, etc.
The old AV was far more enjoyable imo. People getting blown up by landmines & minelayer NPCs, towers that actually required a team to assault, upgrades and turn ins that actually made a difference etc…
Yeah AV is a shambles now, it’s been stripped of all its cool things, they could have made another BG for people to farm in 5min if they didnt have the patience for AV but the destroyed it instead.
If it’s just a solitary BG for fun, all of the original battlegrounds are fine.
That’s not really how it is though, most people do BGs for a reason.
Like I must have done 50 games of Warsong Gulch yesterday.
I like capture the flag but not that much.
I legit played AV until and beyond exalted in og vanilla. Not for the rewards, it just happened while i was having fun.
I never stepped into any raids, as my underdeveloped brain didn’t understand how to go about finding a guild. Most elite content i did was UBRS, even when naxx was out.
What “ruins” av is how accessible knowledge is. Everyone knows everything, so they will let you know if you do anything that is really «dumb» for the team so sieze victory.
I recall my favorite activity was defendig / assaulting the end towers, and controlling the mines (rogue fantasy in action)
Nobody complained about me being left to my own devices, and it was great.
I am ALL up for it, I really desire this.

Man, I want a giant BG where people can play for hours and have so many objectives that playing as turtle is super detrimental.
With traps, lots of MOBs, dangerous NPCs, vehicles, turrets, quests, mining/herbalism nodes, bosses, airstrikes, artillery.
I WANT A WAR.
Hopefully it’s not like anything we had before. Ashran, late AV, Isle of Conquest or Wintergrasp (tho these are more what I talked about, but not even close).
AV in Vanilla was the best version, but geared raids on alliance already could use the PVE strategy. Part of why it is like it is today is also due to class strength/utility increasing drastically.
But yeah I preferred AV in Classic, you’d get good honor, game would last 30mins or so giving you time to do everything, summoned the boss loads of times and pushed the alliance back to their cave with it.
Ironically Old AV was added to Retail during the 15th anniversary but has never been part of Classic. At the start battles took a long time to finish like in Old AV but eventually, players optimize the fun out of it.
