Now this isn’t a debate about multiboxing, I do box as most know.
I also have no issue with standstill farming as it’s also allowed if a human is 100% present and controlling their character/s - bots however I detest.
I have been seeing what I believe are standstill bots quite a lot these past few weeks.
Usually 10 characters, 9 BM Hunters all using nothing but barrage, and x1 Monk using statue. XP locked usually at 110/111.
Not moving at all, Hunters facing outward in a circle, statue in the middle using a well known spot in Nazmir (which is part of an Alliance foothold questchain).
All get on a mammoth and vendor trash & they loot via:
Barrage tags way too much stuff & In shadowlands Starfall is returning to it’s old design and can pull stuff for miles - so expect a lot more Druid bots. Here are the Shadowlands notes on it.
Starfall returns to its previous design. Instead of needing to telegraph the affected area, Balance Druids again call down waves of stars, which strike the surrounding ground while they stand, run, or flap for its duration.
Things Blizzard could do right now if people could accept the changes:
Change spells that don’t require a target and mass AOE to require a target.
Get rid of the Loot-A-Rang - it makes looting far too easy and it’s instant.
Remove the following macro condition as it will pick a target for you:
/targetenemy [noharm][noexists][dead]
Here are the abilities and you see how useful they are to bots.
I know bots can never be fully stopped, but this would help make it more difficult. Right now it’s far too easy for them.
Seen exactly the same thing in Dazar’alor! Wasn’t sure if bots or a boxer but they were disrupting a questing area so reported them and they were gone the day of the ban wave so they must have been bots.
Its a hydra problem for Blizz though, they can ban them and another is ready to pop up to replace it the next day. A never ending battle and all we can do is keep reporting with as much detail as possible to help Blizz out to track and ban them.
Botting and multiboxing should both be permabannable. It literally ruins the economy and the game for normal players who might want to farm gold by doing gathering.
I use that so I can free up a profession slot but it is slow and annoying. Loot-A-rang gets it all in 1 press… fetch is a pain because you have to spam it. It also depends if the pet can even reach the loot.
instead of changing abilities/toys activ blizz should stop being so damn greedy and invest some money to fight bots, its worse then EVER before and i still think wow token introduction was their worst idea ever since it encouraged more botting…
That’s the problem: even if these things were removed the bots would be adjusted in a couple of days for it to not even matter. And then everyone who is not a bot has lost that little bit of convenience.
I don’t really get what the difference is between this and multiboxing. They were farming items also like multiboxers do? Honestly multiboxing annoys me also when I try to farm nodes and have to watch them dissapear cause 5 druids are gathering…
I love these spells because I can do old content solo, and farm old items/reputations. Best idea is to banning botters every week! And don’t punish players!
Yes they might be 10 taps each but if someone multiboxing takes them then that leaves a lot less taps for other people who try to make gold the regular way
