Outlaw - Roll the Bones: wanting to cheat dice!

Heyllo,

I really love outlaw, and it gameplay is in my opinion one of the most funniest in the game.
However there can be some improvement on Roll the Bones.

Due to the issue on randomness, you can be in some situation where you are totally uncomfortable and look very low and you don’t have any control over anything.
Sometime you roll a full buff and DAMN IT FEEL GOOD :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I speak on the situation minimum where you have only 1 buff.
I’m sure you met this situation when you have slide and dice for 1 minute, and you Roll the Bones and you got 3 time in the row 1 buff Grand Melee ( extend slide and dice duration with combo point spend and give you leech, a good buff in pvp when your cooldown is off and you need some source of peels and maintaining pressure for preparing burst).

That situation is really annoying because you feel so useless and your damage meter is almost dead because you couldn’t get a right buff.
Sometime resulting to your team refusing Outlaw Rogue or leave the team because they don’t want you anymore due to the bad luck.
And that ain’t fair.

That why i suggest a security on random buff of Roll the Bone and more control over it, the way of the security is the buff you will receive will be affected by the last spell you have pressed.

For example :

  • Grand Melee = Slice and Dice
  • Skull and Crossbone = Sinister Strike
  • True Bearing = Gouge / Blade Furry
  • Ruthless Precision = Between the Eyes
  • Buried Treasure = Dispatch
  • Broadside = Pistol Shot

Like at least the first buff you got a garantee on the buff you want, then the second and five buff is like the current design

It will give more control on our minimum damage dealt and not feel bad because of serious bad luck.

That change will be a great step for Outlaw, mostly in PvP where Outlaw offhealing is balanced also on Grand Melee in order to peel damage

What do you guys think ?
Clearly that would be a dream for me, who never saw a rogue cheating on his own game of dice :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I like the idea for PVP and the “cheat in dice”-aestetic is cool, but not a fan for it in PVE (which i mostly play). I prefer to have RtB something to adapt the rotation after instead of it being in a fixed rotation (which would probably happen with your suggestion).

Getting a minimum of 2 buffs every roll would solve it for me in all scenarios. Perhaps a combination where you can decide one of the buffs acording to your list and then get one at random.

Imo i’m more for a reword of Loaded Dice
Instead of being bound by adrealine rush
The rework would be like for every combo point spent you have 5% more chance to get a second roll and 0.5% more chance to get all rolls buff.

RtB is a solid concept. It’s kinda cool how you adjust your playstyle to the buffs you get. I think the main issue is the same it has always been: RtB tries to do too many things. There are simply just too many different buffs. Remove 2/6 buffs, and not only does balancing become significantly easier, the whole ability is much easier to read intuitively, which makes the moment-to-moment gameplay experience much more enjoyable.

RtB is just over-engineered. Simplify the design, have it do less things, and it can do the remaining things much better.

in my opinion, Grand Melee can be deleted if slice and dice is removed and replaced by recuperate so outlaw rogue still have a form of self healing
