Outlaw Single target dps struggle

Currently changing to outlaw from sub as it is a demand from most m+ pugs that want you to be outlaw over sub, just trying to see how people get that much single target dps on outlaw, idk if secondary stats impact the dps that much but i can only stay at around 2-3k dps on outlaw for single target, am i missing anything at all?
currently sitting at

29% crit
8%
20% mastery
18% vers

i know my haste is low, should be atleast 10%, but not sure on the vers any input and help would be greatly appreciated!
Im sure rotations are on point aswell.

Use deeper strategies and blade flury talent

You have a dagger equipped in your offhand. That will impact the secondary strike of Sinister, and the strike from Mastery.

Yeah, you def need to get haste up. For outlaw it’s haste > vers.

Take Blade Rush instead of Killing Spree.

Ghostly Strike is pure ST, so that’s for ST fights in raid. In M+ you want Quick Draw.

Marked for Death is better for M+. Deeper Stratagem is for raids.

Your stats are skewered, theres honestly no reason not to play sub with stats like that. Aslong as you’re actively doing your rotation properly you’ll always perform well enough to time 15’s & above.

skimming over your talents you want deeper strategem, weapon master and shadowfocus(?) for PVE the rest are u2u/already got your best talents selected for M+ as sub rogue.

as for outlaw you want blade flurry, pistol shot and deeper strategem/alacrity.

If you link a few logs maybe I can help you.

As it stands I would probably recommend you play Quick Draw, Deeper Stratagem and possibly Blade Rush unless you have access to a Master Assassins legendary at decent itemlevel.

This is because that is about the simplest version of Outlaw that you can play.
The numerical recommendation is actually that you play MFD, but if you’re not making the most of those kill resets its not really worth it over DS.

I mean you say that you know what you’re doing “rotation” wise. Yet you come here to ask for help on how to do damage. In my experience those two things don’t go hand in hand… like ever.

I watch alot of JPC also been watching alot of pov vids of outlaw rogue in higher M+ and see alot of them doing an average of 5-6k single target and i just cant get that, ive spent alot of time on the practise dummies getting my muscle memory to work on the rotations and tried both celerity and master assassin and i prefer Killing spree Aoe opener with blade flurry active, ill get some M+ done and record the logs and then ill send them over.

Think i might just go back into sub and just await 9.1 until they get better and you will get higher crit items but i’d really like to just get into Pugs without hassle of being Sub

Also would you say blade rush over killing spree for single, target would be more optimal?

You want the following for outlaw in M+: 340 haste, at least 20% crit, rest vers

I recommend running Master Assassin if you really want to go with killing spree, else you should go with Blade rush. Try to also use blade rush when you are low on energy since it gives you some energy back.

If your focus really is ST in a m+, then I guess you could go Deeper Stratagem as some have suggested. However Marked for death is generally better in M+ even if you don’t manage the resets well.

You should be able to do a lot more dmg with your gear than what you say you do, so the problem has to be with spell priority as we don’t really have a rotation as outlaw.

This is for ST and you may know most of this, but I’m gonna go through it anyway.

Before opener: Marked for death -> SND -> Roll the Bones.
Opener: Ambush -> Adrenaline Rush + Vanish -> Ambush -> Sinister Strike (if not 5 CP or pistol shot proc) -> Between the Eyes -> Skulkers wing.

From here on out you just make sure to keep SND and Between the eyes up all the time.

Important tips:

  • Always use dispatch on 5 CP unless you are on 4 CP and you got a pistol shot proc. In this case use dispatch and then pistol shot asap.

  • If you have broadside buff from Roll the Bones, you can use finishers on 4 CP.

  • Don’t roll away good buffs. You can use a WA to help track if you have a good combination or not.

  • Always use Skulkers wing or similar trinkets when you have the Pride buff and you have Between the eyes on the target.

I also watch JPC! He is extremely talented and worth listening too.
He is currently running with Killing spree, but for this you need to use Master assassin.
Check his newest video on plaguefall 23 i think it was. Check the opener and what he does, that does insane dmg.

The stats for Outlaw rogue in m+ i posted above are from his comment on that video.

I don’t know yet if killing spree or Celerity Blade rush build is better for ST or not, but neither is far behind the other.
I will follow rogues on warcraft logs for the next week and experiment some myself.

Also, honestly don’t worry about it, I have 17% vers and use to have a whopping 26% mastery. I STILL can do top damage even with bad rolls (I do have 214 item level to be fair, and I’ve been remastering my stats piece by piece.) but still, don’t let your stats worry you, outlaw tends to have weak ST vs the current melee meta without cooldowns.
Also I play Venthyr and can get 2-6k dps depending on rolls, if your playing another cov not so sure how it affects your gameplay but just remember rng is a determining factor if you do god tier damage or fish tier.
