Overcharged Delves - Where is the challenge?

Technically they do: They give you a belt.

And if that’s the way you approach them; that means they’re not meant for you.

I really wish all the people who delves are not made for, would stop whining about them.
I’m not constantly whining about M+ am I?

This really, most people complaining about Delves start out with “Well, i don’t do them…”, good for you, then don’t bore us with your opinion about them, i don’t go around ranting about M+ or normal+ raids, either.

I like Delves because they’re not too challenging (I play games to relax, personally), yet give me something to work on and progress my character for the whole season (As opposed to, say, a rep-grind that’s done in a month), but i try to be “Live and let live” as to other avenues of progression.

I don’t mind delves but what I don’t get ( which is similar for a lot of content ) is that you have to run LOTS of them to max the tree to make them easier…
But…by then you are sick / bored of them so what’s the point in maxing it ???

That’s disappointing to hear.

However, I do not think delves not being the hardest thing out there means the whole system failed. I think delves are very well tuned, we’re just near the end of the season and ultra strong now.

That was what this Overcharge system was supposed to address though, and if it doesn’t, it is a failure. :disappointed:

Yeah, it’s a bit daft.
What I’m doing: I’m running lvl 1 delves. Really going through them fast. And then when the skill tree is full, I’ll start doing level 11 ones again.

Doesn’t that count for any form of content?

I’m doing LfR to get the Gallagio renown thingy maxed (Started for the transmog coins, but if i’m 3/4 of the way there, might as well keep going), and i’m fed up with loony goblins and their self-inflicted problems.

But for what? Gear and rewards are capped. Why do they need to be easier lol. Like I said if they put this in the start of season 2 then great… But now? Why bother. Already geared from Delves long time ago.

I think that the talent tree making negative parts of overcharged delves into downright buffs is pushing it a bit, but it’s the end of the season, who cares at this point?

I’m working on fully upgraded hero-track gear from Delves (With some crafted items) on this character and my Warrior main, and that’s kept me occupied quite well so far.

I did say that in the first line :+1:

I didn’t know you could do that…I have been doing them on T8 because T11 is a bit rough on a ilvl650 enhance shammy

…snap :+1: - collected all the spells on the belt, just going back through on level1 to grind through the tree and get the mount, then do them at leisure on higher levels.

I just ran a couple of these on T11 as a protection warrior with item level 657. Some are very easy, while some can’t be cleared without luck because of how they are designed.

Blizzard haven’t tuned the mechanics of each added content to interact with each other. So now they just appear randomly altogether.

That means, if you are unlucky, two nuclear mechanics, that require two different behaviours to avoid, will appear at the same time, at the same spot, and just kill you. That’s not challenging, that’s just a lottery, and you won’t know until you are there.

I also noticed that Brann sometimes randomly forgets to throw out his medicine. That will probably kill you on Tier 11 if it happens at a bigger pack. But I assume that’s a bug.

I think the design strategy of starting with a set of Delve at expansion launch, and then adding more mobs and more complexity, with more capabilities, for every patch, is understandable because you can renew it and add challenge, but ultimately it will become impossible to tune, because there are too many instances.

You now have a number of Delves, I think it’s 10, with 4 different stories each, 11 different tiers, with two content patches added. That means Blizzard needs to tune and integrate the mechanics of hundreds of possible scenarios. I don’t think they can do that.

I’m disappointed because this happened in the beginning as well, the big Nerubian Lord just one shotted you when you were meters away from the end chest. Now I feel like I don’t want to waste time by visiting Delves that I might not be able to clear.

the idea is that if you would just unlock them as you do overdcharged delves overtime but because the power is active elsewhere they also allow you to grind it out on t1

I tried it, t11 and t1 have no major difference in amount of shards dropped by mobs to unlock it
you can probably fill things out under an hour grinding it on t1

ideal? no, have they done this before? yes, but to be fair atleast they’ve added a ‘just get it over with’ method this time

They screwed up when they made farming overcharged T1 viable. On T11 with rogue and no unlocks it can actually be a challenge sometimes.

I have a couple of questions since I have been confused about this whole overcharged delve thing.
1.What is the reward difference between a normal tier 11 delve vs Overcharged Tier 11 delve apart from filing the delve talent tree gives a mount? Like more crests or better vault gear etc
2. Does the talent tree affect even normal delves?

There’s no difference in rewards as far as I know.

No, only overcharged ones.

Well, I do it for fun, so… I guess I am an outlier. :dracthyr_love_animated:

Just ran one of each and noticed I got twice as much valorstones from the overcharged one.

Why?
If you don’t like that; go do it on level 11 delves. You do you.
Why do you want to force others to play the way that you like it?

Unless you count the achievement mount. It’s an indirect reward, but you’ll have to do overcharged delves to get it.

So much this but people just want to control things for no other reason just to annoy others.
