Not a complaint, I just wonder what this is about, noticed this recently whilst gearing this one.
People with 372+ gear, sometimes even 400+. Something drops they don’t need, now I do check the server names of the other people, it could be they help out a friend, but all different servers.
I asked them in group chat+directly, but no response. I mean, it is what it is, there’s also been nice people and I personally always give away stuff I don’t need. Just wonder what this is about, people seem to be getting more anti-social than before, even whilst doing M+ on my main, I see many people don’t even know basic politeness (say : hi).
I do it for quests mostly. Mythic 0 is pointless when I can do it on hc hehe.
And whenever I can, I do reply back. I sometimes start a dungeon by saying ”hewwo owo” and its usually no response, a hi, or when its a human paladin or warrior: ”be quiet fury”.
When i still do heroics, it’s for quests, and if somebody asks if they can have some loot i don’t need, i’ll give it to them, no problem. (I won’t do the “Does anybody need this?”-thing though, i’m not a market salesman)
With gear-levels the way they are, for geared people, heroics are like the instanced version of overworld rares, we swarm over them like locusts, pick them clean, and scatter again, it’s the result of dungeon groups being easy-come-easy-go, but IMO that’s a small price to pay for not having to spam “LF1M [dungeon name]” for ages in the city anymore.
Also, with the pace of heroic-running these days, i wouldn’t have the time to type smalltalk, even if i wanted to.
This. That’s why group loot should come back even for HC dungeons. No need for me to check on other ppls gear if they might need the item or not and then whisper them / trade them in the middle of the dungeons while the tank is already pulling the next boss or have them leave before being able to accept the trade. Just a simple greed / pass roll and the system sorts out the rest.
PS: OR… there should be a simple button after PL-ing an item to either accept it into your own pockets give if free to roll for everybody on it.
do you mean tanks or maybe even healers?
i play only for flasks when alert is up. so i can pull everything and even heal group. loot is trash and worthless. so if somebody whisper me → he will get it. its not even worth for disenchant… i often get 8k per run. so why should somebody care about 40-100g
and not everybody reads group chat. there are communities, guilds etc.
It is easy to do this in a practical way: Make a macro you use at the beginning of the dungeon where you say you are willing to trade anything that drops to those who needs it. Then you don’t have to check people’s gear as they will know to contact you if they need whatever they need.
Considering how vexingly little time people seem to invest in loot distribution and the stress involved, I usually won’t overextend to check for others, but I do reward those who stick around in the end. I am also using an addon which sadly doesn’t seem to be very widespread: PersoLootRoll. (Which I had to tweak a bit so that it doesn’t pretend to be a human talking to people. I hate that.)
Dungeon loot can be insanely stressful because people don’t dedicate proper time to it, considering how relevant it is for motivation and a generally pleasant experience.
Imagine not getting a chest upgrade because the guy who won it tried to trade it to someone who also got it there and then on rejection just leaves before that guy can tell him to give it to the other guy.
Bear in mind you can get to a pretty high ilvl without going near a dungeon so some people might be doing quests (or in my case farming for ottuk mount rings and dragon manuscripts).
I am ilvl380 from world content and LFR/D. I dont really like dungeons so I go for the easiest level!
Also I would be happy to trade most drops but nobody ever asks!
