Paladin - Divine Shield

Looking forward to later phases, I think it’s a good idea to take an early look at Divine Shield.

Rank 2 of Divine Shield provides 12sec of immunity, with the downside that your attack speed is increased by 100%. In my opinion, the immunity is balanced around the classic wow playstyle of paladins (auto and afk). Now that Paladins have been given a number of instant attacks, there’s a very real chance that they’re going to be able to global people within this window of immunity with almost no way to outplay it.

For example, lets say they can swing 2 autos, 2 Crusader Strike’s, 1 Divine Storm and 1 Exorcism/Avenger’s Shield within the window. With the added seal damage and chances to crit we could potentially be looking at 3.5k+ damage in basic level 60 pre raid gear all whilst immune to all damage and cc.

Those that have played on a particular private server will probably be all to familiar with this problem. I won’t pretend to know all the answers, but a ‘tested’ solution was to reduce all damage by 50% whilst under the effect of Divine Shield.

Well given Blizzard way of doing things, I bet it will be an issue for 2 weeks and then will get nerfed to the ground baby.

It’s so much worse than you think. As a classic reckbomb paladin I could stack 4 stacks of reckoning on a mob (getting crit by the mob) and run up to another player, bubbled if I wanted to do so and hit them with 5 weaponswings + sealprocs at once. Now add a divine storm and crusader strike keypress to the mix.

At level 40 I will only have access to the bare essentials of the build, but I could get 3 points in Reckoning in the prot tree, which is more than enough.

I’m not sure if they will change the “stack maintainance” of the build, because in era you could technically stack up the charges in elwynn, and as long as you dont go through a loadingscreen unleash it on a player anywhere.
