Paladin hardcore build - road to 60 - need advice

Hello everyone,

since I died on my hunter at lvl 23, my priest at lvl 31 and my warrior at lvl 34 - I now want to start as a paladin to finally reach lvl 60 without dying.

I have two questions for the advanced players who know a lot about paladin.

  1. What do you say to this build?

My tactics are to be a 2-hand dps while questing and doing dungeons, while being able to tank low lvl dungeons with 1-hand + shield. Also when I am fighting multiple mobs or elite-mobs, I would like to swtich to 1 hand + shield to always be able to keep my mana up with the 5 second rule and win the long fights over time.

I really want to be as effective as possible while performing dps and tanking (low lvl) + having the most survivabilty as possible.
An all in one spec with the downsides of not being perfect in any demand - but good enough for everything.

The stats on my gear would be equally divided between strength and intelligence + as much stamina as I can get.
My professions will be mining + engineering.

  1. Would you do somethind different?

Thanks in advance!

that´s pretty griefy. Paladins in vanilla are not really suited to tank, unless your party/raid knows exactly what to do, which the majority of low level dungeons groups wont.

Seems I was incredibly lucky to find random groups in which all players “knew exactly what to do”.

Your plan might work for lower levels, but once you get to around ZF, the lack of more points into Prot will start to show.

Often you will also get people that do not understand how paladin tanks works, and while engineering can deal with a lot of that, it still is not great when people instantly nuke, which they often do.

You also only really need up to consecration in Holy if you are tanking.

I would say at some point you need to decide if you want to be Dps or a Tank, paladins are pretty good at both, but not at the same time and trying to be capable of doing both roles will only hamper you, as in you will deal a lot less Dps than others, or you will be a bit of a squishy tank.

If you really want to get to 60, then the slow and steady path of a 1h with shield paladin tank is pretty good, while you wont quest at a rapid pace, it is unlikely you will die unless you do some stupid stuff.

As someone who plays pally I can tell you that you won’t get to 60 with this build.

Play the type of build you’re used to. Your reactions to the occasional Oh :poop:! moment is worth much more than the optimal build.
