As stated, currently Divine Storm does physical damage and not holy damage. I understand the tooltip reads “110% of weapon damage”, however iterations of Divine Storm in other expansions and versions of the game are all using holy damage.
I would also like to add to the above statement that the spell is called Divine Storm. Divine also means Holy. I’m also aware that currently, as a physical damage ability, it follows the %hit chance of other physical abilities, but I’m sure the damage could be made holy without turning it into, effectively, a spell.
Currently it’s tough to argue for picking Aegis over Divine Storm for a lot of fights as Aegis only helps versus melee and phys-ranged enemies. There are times where swapping to Divine Storm leads to not only greater damage but also higher overall value for a Protection Paladin, however as it currently stands it does not synergize with Righteous Fury since it doesn’t do Holy Damage, and I would argue swapping out of a great defensive rune in favor of a damage rune should also allow us to have more threat as an added benefit.
Is this working as intended or is it a bug? I have submitted it in-game as well.
