I seriously can’t get how can someone enjoy ret in BfA, it boggles my mind how people can enjoy being sub par in every category and not excelling in something.
But to each their own I guess.
The GCD change and the dead space in rotations is just proof of how bad class design in general is in BfA and how the devs really don’t know what they’re doing.
Nobody likes it and the game will always be better if they reverted the changes.
That’s because 11 and 12s aren’t really considered that hard, a little harder than a 10 maybe, but on really high keys nobody will ever consider bringing a ret.
No offense, but any pug that can kill the first 6 bosses on Heroic can easily kill Taloc on Mythic, it’s a really easy fight, and we know that all kinds of people are being carried in pugs.
Great, while it is totally the right play to save your group/raid with a clutch WoG/LoH, problem with ret is that holy and prot bring the same utility as well (aside from WoG) which means that there really is no reason to bring a ret if you have a holy or a prot paladin in the raid/group.
Please don’t tell me you believe this? Ret is NOT a support spec, it is a dps spec and should only be treated as such, just like all the other dps specs and classes that can only dps. Hybrids haven’t been in the game in forever and it should stay that way.
Talking about utility, most other dps only classes currently have the same if not better utility than a ret paladin.
So not only do they do better dps but they also bring a lot more to the raid just by being there than a paladin currently (warriors, DHs and monks with their buffs, locks with gateway and healthstones, mage/shamans with lust etc.).
There’s a reason why people are benching rets in mythic and why a lot of people are rerolling to other classes atm. and by the looks of things nothing is gonna change in 8.1.
Yesterday I went TD 12 ,we had Bdk ,rogue ,boomkin ,Hpala and I . We cut through the water as always, we fight first group of mobs the tank dies with 3 mobs left half dead we kite em dead and get ready for the boss . We start the boss and at 40% i have already used 2x WoG , LoH on tank , BoP on druid cause no1 avoids shiet. We wipe rogue has 13k DPS boomkin 11.7 and I 10.4 . Rogue states and I quote : “that’s why u don’t bring Retris in m+ I guess” . So u got a tank that can’t kite and doesn’t know how to play an OP class when it comes to tanking and a boomkin that even when being range can’t avoid sandtraps and the problem is Retri dmg?? I mean cmon we have to be honest with ourselves from time to time.
My point being with that example that our toolkit makes us shine when ppl f@k up, is that right or wrong I know not . Do I enjoy being the last line of defence and many healers want to add me after a m+ , I surely do . My point is that when ppl are good I feel I help a lot with my current toolkit even
If my DPS is lower and I don’t consider that as some1 is carrying me or boost me but more of smooth runs. And many times my DPS is as good as theirs cause I know the healer can manage and I don’t need to sac dps. I personally enjoy both situations
Now I get it when u say as higher we go ppl don’t F@k up as much and Retris r not needed due to their toolkit being useless to others with skills but I don’t feel I have reached to that point yet and i 'm the 3rd DPS Retri of the realm and 17 in all roles according to io that every1 seems to consider their holy bible (I personally hate it). Maybe my realm is trash for me being there and I know tarren mill has a lot of the most skillful players but until now I haven’t been or felt neglected because of me playing Retri . Thats all i’m saying. Maybe I ll reach that wall u r talking about someday but in my understanding most ppl playing Retri (at least in my realm) haven’t even been in the point I ve reached so far and yet they complain a lot . I told ya before I’m casual and if some1 is a dedicated player with less “achievements” and still complains they r doing something wrong either playing Retri or anything else .
Btw method has 2x great Retris in their roster . Are they benched in mythic uldir? If so I get your point Retri being bad in higher/more competitive environment cause in my casual environment they seem to perform ok -not great but not terrible for sure
It is a shame that i am force to reroll for 8.1 just to remain relevant in end-game content… I love my paladin, i love the lore and the feel of the class… i will miss him, dearly. Shame…
