i have a problem with my GPU (or PSU) that makes GPU overheat and i lose display until i restart the PC but in wow it only happens in Panda remix and not on retail , does anyone know if there’s a difference between remix and retail ? any different settings that i can change? (it’s not related to addons, i disabled them all)
Main differance i can think of is that remix has a lot more spell effects and everything goes at such a fast pace so essentially your hardware is having to work much harder to keep up, especially in group content. Sometimes it’s so much that even Blizzards server can’t keep up with it.
This is absolutely not true.
MoP Remix is still MoP content with much lower density in terms of polygonal meshes.
In raids you will be CPU-limited anyways, no matter which version you are playing since they all use the same engine which is mostly singlethreaded.
I would guess that you do not have your FPS limited in MoP Remix?
Set an FPS limit (match your displays refreshrate) or enable Vsync (which does the same but introduces a bit of inputlag).
Some hardware specs would be helpful.
What’s your GPU and CPU and what exactly are the temps when playing?
I am not seeing any drastic changes with my GPU and remix. I would prob lean towards remix being less intensive over more resource hungry.
Use a good diagnostic reporting software to find out how your system is performing and where the issue is. HWinfo is my goto. You can set up HWinfo to report to a second PC. This will tell you the state of the hardware in your system at the time it fails. Unless you can say what the conditions are then you are just guessing in the dark. It could have many reasons for failure.
i use that too, that’s how i noticed this.
i should try this yeah
i have a 3070 and it skyrockets to 80c in wow (and some other games ) but in remix it takes only one minute to reach that high, i will replace some components soon and not sure if GPU is overheating because it’s faulty or not. it’s definitely not related to WoW itself but it’s a bigger issue in the remix so i’ll try to limit fps and see how it goes
Repasting the GPU (thermalpaste) would help alot if it is too dried out over the years.
I notice a change in retail after the latest update. Didn’t use to have 100% GPU load before but now I do. My RTX 4090 was getting really high temperatures.
Can u post a text dump from your hwinfo?
80c does not sound like high temps to me. My 3090 hits 90c. Google what the hotspot should be. The average temp is not as important as the hotspot temp.
Unless you are cranking up the resolution scale (which is still buggy btw) there is no way you will reach 100% on a 4090 in normal gameplay.
On average the CPU will limit way before you come close to 100% load.
There is some exceptions though, some spots with broken paricle effects, mostly volumetrics like fog with compute effects set too high will destroy any GPU
Thats definately not good. Did it always go that high?
Usually tepmeratures above 80 is not good, 90 is almost critical.
-Restore factory defauls, perhaps it is in OC mode. And at summer PC parts are facing more heat anyways.
-Check case airflow
-Check fans
-Remove dust
-Replace heat pasta. There was some recent news about some manufacturers insterting cheap pastas to reduce costs.
Operating cards on high temperatures may melt soldering, and reballing is not cheap, and often it does not lasts too long until it breaks again, it will never be the same like factory soldering.
forgot to come back here,
this fixed my problem. it’s still hotter when i play remix but i’m done with that so idc at this point.
thanks for all the help
