Pandaren Heritage needs to look like Chen Stormstout's!

Chen has a very nice typical Pandaren attire! I just want to put the suggestion out there, that we’d love that kind of armor for our pandarens.

Agreed, that would be a good choice!

Yes, yes, yes !

Wouldn’t be surprised if they never made heritage armor for the Pandaren…

Judging by how the Pandaren have zero influence and presence on any story beyond MoP, it almost seems like Blizz wants to forget they exist…

Well it would still be tied to their heritage, so it doesn’t really matter what the context of the current story is.
I mean, the Pandaren heritage is their slavery to the Mogu, Shaohao’s protection of Pandaria, the ways of the monk, beer brewing, the Celestials, and so on. That’s some of what you’d expect a heritage questline to revolve around, and the Heritage armor would probably reflect that.

It’s probably not the race that’s first in line for a Heritage armor, since all of the armor in MoP was Pandaren-inspired to begin with. They have a bit more going for them already as far as race-fitting armor choices go, than some of the other races.

Personally, I’d like a Celestial-inspired armor, but I dig the Stormstout look as well.

That’s not my point…

My point is that Blizz barely acknowledges the existence of the Pandaren, hence it wouldn’t surprise me if they never got their armor.
Or at best got it last, in a long, long, long time.

I don’t know. I think it’s just a matter of the various story plots going in a different direction for the time being. It’s not like the lore and story related to Pandaria and the Pandaren is forever a thing of the past. There are some follow-ups that Blizzard may or may not pursue in the future.

I recall much the same complaints from Draenei back in the day. How they were so ignored that even after the Cataclysm revamp, all Blizzard did for them was to put a small Draenei camp in the Swamp of Sorrows.
But lo and behold, then came Warlords of Draenor and Legion, and then we got entire expansions that were heavy with Draenei lore and story.

Blizzard tends to come around to the various story plots and lore points eventually. The timeline is just long – that’s the nature of the game.

Can’t say I’ve ever heard that complaint, even though I’ve been playing since vanilla.

The Draenei have always been more included in the story than the Pandaren have been…
My guess is because they are vastly more popular as a player race.

Draenei are everywhere, but even the Pandaren faction leaders are barely involved…
What has Aysa Cloudsinger been doing since MoP? She was present at Varian’s funeral. I assume anyway, I can’t remember seeing her there…
And she’s been sitting on the front of the 7th Legion Ship, meditating for the entirety of BfA.

And I assume Ji Firepaw was present when Baine was arrested…

I’m not complaining btw… Because I don’t really care whether or not they are included, I’m just pointing out that it almost seems like Blizz is forgetting they are a thing…
Maybe because they are the least popular race…

My point is simply that after TBC they were pretty absent until WoD, at which point they were indeed everywhere.

I think it’s worth keeping that in mind, that every story plot can’t have equal representation of everyone all the time.
Besides, Heritage Armor is a fairly new thing. It’s not like all races have it already, or that anyone has been waiting for particularly long.

When the Pandaren are relevant to a story plot again – and there’s certainly something with the Celestials, the Mantid, the Sha, and so on – then Blizzard, uh, finds a way.

Sure, but they were still around… The Draenei have always had more of a “presence” in the world than the Pandaren have…

Some of it might be because 75% of the gameworld is still “stuck” in the Cataclysm, and as such have had almost no Pandaren NPCs added to the world, but there’s more than that.

Not all races can have equal representation, sure. But even Gnomes had more of a presence even though they had zero impact on anything, until Mekkatorque suddenly became a frontline fighter.
Through tons of NPCs and questgivers if nothing else…

You can level a character all the way to max, and the only Pandaren you saw were the Monk class trainers, except for when you level through Pandaria.

And I suspect the reason is because the Pandaren have been unpopular from the start. So they intentionally avoid placing them under the limelight.

I don’t think that’s why at all.
Regardless, it’s a bit outside the topic of the thread.
I’m sure Blizzard will make a Heritage Armor for Pandaren as they likely intend to do for all other races as well.
Whether Pandaren ends up being last or not, well, we’ll just have to wait and see.
A Stormstout-themed Armor set is a cool idea. :+1:

Agree to disagree then…

But yes, a Stormstoutesque heritage armor would be cool and lore friendly for the pandaren.

The problem I have with this is that it’s only half true. Yes, we had AU Draenei on Draenor and LF ones on Argus. But what were the original Azeroth Draenei that actually belong to the Alliance doing the whole time?

With Pandaren they made 2 mistakes.
The first one was to make them just fat. A more kul tiran style (less fat, more muscles) would have differentiated them more from the comic Panda cliche.
The other mistake was to make them available to the Horde. They knew how MoP would end. With how the story went they couldn’t make both factions recruit more from Pandaria itself, so both factions only have a hand full that came from the turtle. And what kind of story can you write with one ‘leader’ and 2-3 NPCs per faction?

There’s plenty of Azeroth Draenei all over the world…

But yes, one could wonder what the Azeroth Draenei were doing during Legion… A few joined Velen on their journey to Argus, but not enough of them to make up an army…

Agreed…

Agreed… Pandaren should have joined the Alliance and the Horde should have gotten some other race…
Offshoots from the Mogu or Mantid perhaps…
The skeletons of those last ones could make that difficult though, not to mention the lore reasons behind both of them…

Where? :face_with_monocle:

Random quest givers and unimportant NPCs…

If that counts, then the Pandaren vendor they added to this year’s Brewfest should quelch any complaints in regards to that race’s presence.

NPCs give a race a “presence” in the world, even if they are unimportant… If every single quest giver in the entire game was a gnome it would probably elicit some reaction from you, no? Maybe make it seem like there were a lot of gnomes around?

But no, seasonal NPCs present for 2 and a half weeks per year does not count…

And this is where I let out a deeeeeeep sigh…

I have not been complaining… I’ve just pointed something out…

Whether they make Pandarens more visible or not, doesn’t really matter to me…
Just pointing out that they are barely present in the world…

Okay.
I think it’s fine though. Like I said, it follows the story.
The Pandaren are an isolated race - they prefer Pandaria.
There are a few Pandaren who have a “wanderlust” and thus set out to explore the world. The turtle, Chen, Li-Li, and so on, are examples of that.
The Pandaren presence outside of Pandaria is supposed to be small. That’s befitting of their race.

They’re like the Japanese, if one were to guess where Blizzard’s inspiration comes from. They’re many, but they generally stick to their own place, and they have a history of being secluded and isolated from the rest of the world.

It’s the same for certain other races. I certainly don’t expect a sprawling Void Elf metropolis city anytime soon. They’re few. Their presence in the game should match that.
The Humans are many, they should be everywhere. That’s fitting.

If Blizzard evolves the story in a particular direction, then things can change, but nothing seems unlike how it should be right now. In my opinion.

True but a few hundred (presumably) joined the Alliance and the Horde, there should be at least a few of them out there…
Only examples I’ve seen beyond Class Trainers, have been a guard NPC in Nazjatar who was a Pandaren.
And Aysa and Ji should at least be more visible.
Sure, they shouldn’t be very “Let’s kill the Horde/Alliance!” because Alliance Pandarn and Horde Pandaren don’t hate each other. But they could at least be there…

Pfft… Based on numbers alone, the Void Elves shouldn’t even be playable…
I would be surprised if there even were a hundred of them lorewise… A few dozen maybe…
