I figured out the problem: Full bags! The game tried to add a quest item (a letter, I think), but since that wasn’t possible, the quest didn’t start. Making room and relogging fixed it.

But there must be a drop chance higher than 1.0%. One of my guildie got it the first box, I did it too on my first box. I thought it was a 100% loot or pretty close.
Got the dragon AGES ago, was lucky and really didn’t care, and still don’t, about the mount.
BUT I agree that mounts in paragon boxes, just like in IEs, should/could be something you could buy, 1.000 mana pearls or whatever, for instance, to defeat rng.
At one time Blizzard had said no more mounts in BFA via paragon chests and what do we get for patch 8.2? Mounts in paragon chests.
I did get the mount the op mentioned after opening my 4th paragon chest for the Waveblade Ankoa so was lucky but my advice is to not actually grind it, do the emissary when it pops up and whatever quests you feel like doing.
At the start of BfA seeing they’d gone back to putting faction mounts on the vendor there was a sliver of hope that they had learned.
Nope, in comes nazjatar paragon mount and the mechagon pattern you need for the meta achievement you get from the paragon box to hit you straight on the noggin.
Should be bad luck protection/currency for those like those mysterious Coins
I do not mind paragon chests as long as they do not give mounts. So in one end I do mind the Nazjatar one, but don’t mind the old ones.
Or atleast got currency/ bad luck protection
There are very few faction limited pets in general. I haven’t looked specifically at any of those from this expansion though.
… and my bitterness regarding that comes from the very fact for whole legion I did that one paragon-thing for nearly whole expansion with 7-8 alts, and did not get my mount by BfA and then some troll on forums goes OMG lol kek 1st paragon chest for something i actually put effort into. And since I am so anti RNG on anything that I refuse to do anything RNG based in this game ever again. Heck this even killed the farm-gene in me so well that while everyone in our raid team has neck 70, mine is 67.
Paragon chests are nice bonus, but if you put genuinely unique rewards behind RNG (same with isle mounts) and make someone close to two years work for it and still give 0 reward back, then they can bugger off with all things RNG.
Same with the artefact skin from the scenario. I never got it after doing it daily for close to 300 days. (with few breaks)

This is the problem with RNG based rewards. A guildie really needed the Valarjar mount from the paragon rewards, I think I had it drop several times and he never got it.
It made no sense. At least some system to be able to trade in your unwanted mounts for a currency towards the ones you did need would have helped.
That’s the very mount. I loved its model and aesthetics and that i in general like horses and drakes. And nothing… with all that time and effort - NOTHING. I did raise the stake sby doing it several characters. NOTHING. And then i took this decision.
I kept farming well into BfA and finally got them all. It was a relief not to have to keep going back to the previous expansion for what I consider to be a failed system.

I just couldn’t go back to it because of the ammount of effort had put into and did not get anything in return I… just couldn’t. And it worked so well that anti-rewarding system that in bfA I really have gone to 0-RNG based game play. If its RNG, I am not interetsed. if its farm. not interested. My game time spent per session is 1/10 of what it was in legion due it.

Didn’t they say they had learned their lesson and wouldn’t put mounts into paragon chests again? Only recipes, toys etc. Well it looks like that lesson slipped as people are back to the inane grind for a paragon mount (Nazjatar paragon chest.)

They did put a mount in the Nazjatar paragon chest, at least for the Horde, I presumed it was mirrored on the Alliance but have not checked.
Unlike Legion it had a high drop rate though and most got it within six paragons.
i just skip that rng stuff. what i dont get while its current i ll leave behind. as simple as that. that is just getting insane with the rng.
Yes, the Royal Snapdragon is in the Alliance paragon bag, too. I got it from my first or second bag before I knew there could be a mount in there. I had only remembered the devs saying the BFA paragon bags wouldn’t contain mounts.

Haha…“players” it was 2 trolls on the forums making threads to bait people,i memeber back in november.
IMO:Legion paragon system BAD,BFA system paragon (apart of Nazj) good.
