Meh. They’re not portrayed as spellbows outside of that tiny handful of abilities.
I think Focus hunter represents that fantasy better.

I think it depends on the race really.
Night elf and troll hunters have a different fantasy to dwarves and orcs

Focus could have worked if we had had potions and buff-food for Focus as well - but this part is missing. That’s why I prefer mana … really do not care what it’s called, but with no way to replenish or buff, unlike all other ressources, it’s a no-go for me.
To be honest I could just be stubborn and resistant to change, I literally quit hunter in Cataclysm lol
The focus regen is significantly higher to make up for that though. I could be wrong but I think it’s even higher than a rogue’s energy regen.
And Rogues still have Thistle Tea, potions etc.
I think it’s a lazy solution, and not fun at all.
I mean they do but as far as I’m aware they’re not really the meta pick for potions.
And I wouldn’t say the lack of a focus potion is lazy. It’s just not something Blizz think would see much use.
I don’t care about meta, I care about fun. I like cooking I like crafting things I (or my alts) can use.
Implementing a new ressource, and not making one measly potion or recipe enhancing this ressource in any way is un-fun and I think lazy and anyways NOT catering to the RP aspect of the game - in a MMORPG!
This meta / utilitarian point of view you give voice to here is the reason Cata is no longer Classic.

I’m sorry but the meta/utilitarian PoV is a thing even in TBC and Wrath. And a focus potion sounds suspiciously as though it’d be a narcotic of some sort.

true, focus is a stupid rescource, well most cata ones are kinda bad.
Hunter focus is beginning of stupid retail crap when they start to turn every class into rogue …

Imagine being p1 bis, u need less heals, which means less mana.
Im not complaining, but I use mana pots as a prot. I wanna do all the dmg / use defensives I need.

No, I played hunter in original wow and changed main for the first time ever when they removed hunter mana and gave them energy - sorry, “focus”. Hunter without mana is the bad idea, no mana management, like playing hunter wasn’t easy enough as it was.
