I’d love to hear the explanation as to how or why blizzard think this is a good idea, RNG aside in terms of the proc, the sera gain is a global which although in some cases may mean a buffed spender is just as likely to be wasted on a CS, the 4 set bonus though is ghastly, as it runs the chance to desync Wake from Sera proper and our one minutes, if the intention is holy power generation in an effort to improve our damage i think they missed the mark and should instead look to jut improve the damage of the spells in question.
What are other peoples thoughts on the matter?

You lost me, if you’re just explaining how it’ll work work and the whole Sera vs Inquisition thing i get you, the point i was trying to make is 2 seconds of Seraphim isn’t enough to make use of outside of a global, maybe two at best and i doubt will be that impactful, maybe a slight extension on our main seraphim use with procs but the 50% chance to reset WoA unless procced less than 15 seconds after use will likely result in Wake being held so as to not Desync from our other Cd’s, unless of course in M+ pack will die before we can make use of our min burst of course.
I hate both set pieces.
2 set bonus - how exciting(not really) + chance to extra crit/dmg etc on your next GCD… if i don’t set up a weak aura to show the proc, i probably will barely notice it (sans the visual…), the only thing noticeable would be the mastery increase, but it’s so small i wouldn’t bet on it.
4 set bonus - going to desync my wake from sera/final reckoning/divine toll 1 per min combo… i really, REALLY hate this.
They need to be remade, lets do a 2 minute thinking session and try it:
- 2 set bonus - When you benefit from Art of War, your next Holy Power spender will be enhanced as if Seraphim is active, stacks with Seraphim.
- 4 set bonus - Art of War has a 50% chance to grant you a Wake of Ashes charge instead of Blade of Justice, up to a maximum of 3 charges.
2 set bonus - now the bonus will always be useful for a spender, and it stacking with Seraphim again will make it pack a punch.
4 set bonus - now you have control over your Wake of Ashes, you can use it when you want, can set up some nice burst, so rewards good play between spending the Wake of Ashes to not overcap and using it during burst windows.
P.S. After another 1 minute thinking session, i still don’t like this, since we have a talent that enhances the Art of War proc chance, these set bonuses will just shoehorn us into the talent (not like it wasn’t best for ST, now it’ll be best for AOE as well).

very weak set bonus, 2sec seraphim you can barely even benefit from it, they need to give something like execution sentence dmg boost. Wake of ashes set might be good but only for aoe/3 target cleave fight also it can do bad for your burst as kyrian, but in m+ might be decent i guess.
i’m not sure how weak it’ll be, we might not feel it from a player perspective but looking at a fight like Guardian the average proc at the moment for a roughly 5 min fight is 28 AoW procs which equates to 56 seconds of Seraphim or very close to 20% of the fight, added to the 50% chance to reset WoA rather than blade leads me to believe that blizzards aim is to improve our sustain at the cost of our current burst playstyle, this does mean that we’re much more susceptible to movement and uptime requirements otherwise our dps will drop much more than just making full use of burst windows like we do at current, be interesting to see how things look going forward - currently i’m gathering data for M+ so if people wouldnt mind also posting here dungeon runs and the proc rates for things like AoW/EP over the length of the dungeons and the talent set ups you used it’d be a great help
wow if this goes live paladins will finally be great in pve and in pvp again.
I’m intrigued to see if haste effects it, imagine throwing out a WoA and then 2 seconds later getting another. I guess time will tell
Art of War is procced of auto attacks so I’m not sure how much haste will effect the weapon swing timers i think Zeal paired with Blade of Wrath will likely become the go to to maximise the chance of back to back wakes which may end up the dominant talent set up regardless of ST or AoE
Yeah that’s my thought - I only do PvP on this char though, when I get time. I run zeal, such a boring talent
The two set bonus is horrible and useless. Even with a WA showing the proc it will not be worthy to track it and try play around it.
Four set bonus while sounds interesting in theory will most likely interfere with ret’s one minute burst windows unless the proc happens within the 1st 15seconds of the previous WoA use. So remains to be seen how much of a DPS gain it will be.
IMO 4set should change into Art having the chance to give you a free WoA instead of reset the CD. And probably have some proc rate of 1ppm. That way we would essentially get one more WoA between our burst windows helping us with sustain DPS.
2set is absolutely horrible and needs to go. I would much rather see some Expurgation procs without crit or w/e than this.
Ofc I’m certain Blizzard will listen to ret feedback as they usually do and fix us!

Test them on the ptr if you want, but currently, at least the ret ones, they both feel bad and rng based, they should be changed to something we can better control and have to use skillfully.
I do not even need to test the set to tell just from my experience it is gonna be subpar one. I made my suggestion in ptr feedback for a rework that would boost our single target sustained.
Ret needs single target so much, we are lacking big time when it comes to pure Patchwerk. The 2 seconds of Seraphim is a joke, it’s gonna be useful doing a single ability with GCD, it’s hardly gonna be felt.
Devs will most probably just don’t give a damn about us rets as always they do but if they actually want us to suffer a little bit less they NEED to change the bonuses to what is said in this comment, I just git done testing the tier set in PTR and it literally doesn’t add anything and on the other hand it even messes with our rotation of 1 minute and 2 minute burst windows, it’s useless.
