So I’ve recently tried to DPS again. Something much celebrated by instance bosses as whereas I am a decent tank, dpsing is something that I need to work on way harder.
Got decent output from my BM hunter, which is I guess rather easy to do, so now I’ve moved on to my fire mage. I can’t remember any specc this fun to level, but it takes a lot more out of me to get numbers in raiding/m+.
So my question is, since I just simed my char, What percentage of said simming is decent you feel? 60%? 99%? 110%?
I think this largely depends on the raid boss and the mechanics, movement requirements, etc. There are no current bosses that are as static as Patchwerk was.
For M+, simming is very unreliable. You’re better off watching some streams of high keys where the streamer plays the spec for ideas. The “dungeons” setting at Raidbots is unusable, as far as I can tell. DrJay once mentioned that for M+ simming he selects the Patchwerk fight with 4-5 bosses and 40 seconds (with raid buffs disabled). But I don’t find that very useful.
It depends on how well your class scales with bloodlust, consumables and raid buffs. On the other hand, if you want to know how well you know your rotation, you can make a “training puppet sim” instead of a patchwerk sim. Then, when practicing in front of the puppet, you should ideally reach 100% if your training puppet sim
I would like to also point out that your dps output is extremely group dependent. As the faster you kill the boss as a team the higher your dps will be due to the initial high pull-burst.
