So its the first time since whenever i started playing on retail wow that
some real life friends actually decided to actively play wow with me because they tried out classic.
They wanted faster gameplay so we went over to bfa.
Now, i have a lot of characters to play with them and i have 2 out 3 pathfinder achievements, (pardon me for not investing time into bfa, but you know how it is)
how do i explain my friends who are now over lvl 90 that they cant fly anymore in WoD, Legion and BfA content and that they have to spend at least a month grinding out irrelevant reputations for factions that nobody cares about to REGAIN the ability to fly in those expansion zones ?
How do i help them grind out those pathfinder things for bfa ?
They are honestly considering quitting over this because it makes things so much slower.
Now you have to consider, I dont really care much about flying in general, but they just recently started playing and havent played any expansion before, so they are already so accustomed to flying after spending all their gold for it.
It feels like a loss to them.
I would have the easiest class to grind for it and have an alt to do older content for fun. There’s no solution for that particular hassle so why not inject some mog and mount runs on older contents to ease the sour taste at the end of your day ?
I wonder why they couldn’t put pathfinder for gold/money on shop. You can buy char boost. Why not flying ? Extra money for them (not for current content obviously)
They want you to experience the content first before flying over everything, which is why it’s unlocked account wide once you’ve done it once.
A lot of it is already completed once you finish the main quest lines, then there’s just some rep grinds to finish off.
If your “friends” (yes I have my doubts you are talking about friends) don’t like grinding, then perhaps MMOs aren’t the best option for them.
Just grind dungeons for the irrelevant levels, you don’t need flying and can skip the whole expansion. Once you done with that then its just the BFA reps to grind which are still fairly relevant now.
“Experiencing the content” does not mean that we should grind reputation for weeks, in some cases months, in order to be rewarded with Pathfinder achievements. That is not seeing the content, that is artificially prolonging the completion speed of that achievement, because there are limited amount of world quests every 12 hours. There should be something repeatable which is not time-gated, something you could farm basically all day for if reputation-gated Pathfinder achievements are going to be a thing in the new expansion after Battle For Azeroth as well.
It is also the bottom line to release the final part of Pathfinder achievements only when it suits Blizzard, instead of having all parts available to be completed immediately at the launch of an expansion. It feels like they are doing this to keep the subscriptions active.
The pathfinder achievements are purely a way of gating the ability to fly IMO. Players who are here all along tend to clock up many of the requirements before flying is made available. However, that seems like a far more arduous task when you have to start from scratch and have not played before.
It is something you only have to do once to unlock it account wide but that doesnt’ make it any less of a chore.
