PC Build - Ryzen 3 3100, GTX 1660S

Hello guys,

i am about to build a new PC and i`m now not sure of which cpu/ gpu i should get. I am considering following combos:

  1. CPU: Ryzen 3 3100, GPU: 1660S
  2. CPU Ryzen 5 3600, GPU: 1650S
  3. CPU Ryzen 5 2600, GPU: 1650S

I usually use the PC almost only for WoW and in that case i would go for the cheapest combo, but yet i want it to be smooth while playing for at least the next 2 expansions.

Should i go for a better CPU, but worser GPU or ist it better to go for a better GPU but woser CPU when it comes to WoW?

What would you recommend?

Thx for help!

Go for 3600. GTX 1650S isn’t ideal but isn’t bad for 1080p either. This wont likely be a GPU for very high settings. If you can - 1660 Super/Ti or look at RX 5700 / 5700 XT promotions (those are much stronger ones).

amd’s zen 3 livestream is starting in less than 2 hours.

My recommendation is: 3600+1660s with 3200 speed ram.

3600 is exceptional good for it’s price point, and it’s gonna perform perfectly with wow (any mmo). Also the stock cooler inside 3600 is gonna cover your needs.

Ryzen tends to perform better with high speed ram, most high end users are gonna use 3600 speed ones as this is the most optimal for high perf, but for your needs 3200 speed ram is gonna be fine.

About Gpu even tho 1650s and 1660s are let’s say close to fps. It’s gonna be better to choose 1660s for the 6gb vram that is offering instead of 4gb vram 1650s, and that is gonna allow you to keep higher settings in-game that can probably last for couple of years of expansions.

It might be worth to wait till Black Friday end of Nov to get some good deals. Also keep in mind that soon amd is releasing new cpu (announcement today 8-oct) and gpus (announcement 28-oct) and that can probably help out with even more lower prices.

Exactly what I’m using. Due to only having a 1080p monitor at 60hz, had to lock my GPU at 60fps although unlocked it was hitting 90-100fps in some places

Ryzen 5 3600, it’s a sweet spot for gaming.

Or £50 more and get the newer Ryzen 5600 which’ll come out in November 5th.

For gaming, the single cache available on all cores will help with gaming performance. But as I said it’s £50 more than the 3000 series so if you can afford to save up another £50, I’d go for the Ryzen 5600 when it comes out.

Match that with a B550 motherboard and you’re set to go.

This is the new pc I’m thinking of getting. Is it good enough for Shadowlands? Sorry I couldn’t get a better description.

You want me to describe that PC in one word?
Garbage.
It has a slow APU which is built on tech from 2 generations ago and has no dedicated GPU, only the built in Vega Graphics unit which is also very slow and can’t even run 1080P properly on less demanding games.

What is your budget? You can get a WoW PC for around 500€ if you can build it yourself.
