PC specs for gaming

Hi, I need someone who is good with computers to tell me how good are these specs for gaming:

Motherboard: Asus Z170 Pro Gaming
CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K 3.5GHz
Memory(RAM): 24 GB Corsair
CPU Cooling: H110i GTX Liquid Cooling + x6 Fans
Optical Drives: 2 Drives
Video Card: 4GB Gigabyte Windforce GTX970
Power Supply: Corsair CX600
Storage:

  • SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 250GB
  • HDD: 1TB and 500GB

That’ll do the job… for WoW, anyway.

I would change the graphics card, OC the cpu and made sure I am running ram in dual channel. Not really sure how you are getting 24 gigs.

It’s decent. Will deffo play wow max settings comfortably. It’s nothing special though, don’t expect max setting on new games like battlefield etx. Depends what you’re planning on playing.

Triple channel DDR4 - three 8GB chips - would be my guess. But as that 'board has 4 slots, what gives OP; two 8GB & two 4GB…?!

Is this a new build or a machine you already have with upgraded parts included?

I have about the same’ish setup. Same mobo+CPU clocked @4.7+970 Strix and 16gb DDR4 @3000.

The one thing that holds me back on the newer games is the GPU… but with a bit of graphics tweaking here and there that set-up will do 1080p at 60fps fine.

WoW is as good as maxed out with the better performance in 8.1

Just saw someone selling this PC so I am just checking it out

Its ok… You should switch to Ryzen AMD though just saying.

If it’s Ā£250 or less, grab it… if they want more than Ā£400, walk away.

I fear he may be getting an 8gb and a 16gb…or he has 3 slots with 8gb.

Why so many fans…???

Push/Pull set-up on the radiator. As in 3 on each side of it.

Edit: I also don’t get why people are so hung up about the 24gb of ram. Most important thing I’d be asking with this build is (since it is a 2nd hand pre-built): how much are they asking for it?

Specs wise it would fit with most people but that all depends on the pricing.

HOW MUCH WOULD IT COST?

Again this is a decent low end pc and if its super cheap then its a good deal. Like less than Ā£450. For example if you could get it for Ā£200 (assuming it works and that it’s not a scam) then you should 100% get it even if just a second or spare pc etc.

don’t know why it has 24gb ram but still not bad, make its sound like its missing a piece in one port like 8gb for max 32gb / 4 etc.

the cpu is kind of meh but it’ll run wow anyway. would def prefer upgrading to an i7+ but again, not awful.

6 god damn fans AND liquid cooling??? This is kind of bizzare tbh. Makes me slightly worried but not entirely.

the 970 is pretty decent imo, power supply is fine, ssd and hdd are ok too

Again tell us the price or roughly anyway, if it’s like Ā£1000, then no way but if super cheap and not broken then, you know.

Well because tri ram slots don’t really exist and 2 12 gb ram sticks are maybe existing? I’ve never seen 'em for sale anywhere before or use before, which mean you would assume means he has 4 ram slots and 3 in use for whatever reason.

Either one is broken, the port or the stick or … i don’t know. Just a possible redflag, maybe could be a potential problem and the reason for a lowered pc cost idk man, be skeptical when it comes to money and goods.

It does though. While it’s not a common set-up for a gaming pc and one wouldn’t notice it for most cases it is still out there. It could also be the case of running 16+8 without directly thinking one slot is broken. Seen enough people double capacity and keeping the other stick in.

Though in all honesty, I question your knowledge when you also: call that CPU ā€˜meh’, haven’t heard of 6 fans on a radiator and especially: calling it a low end PC.

Reasonable midrange, but everything is 3-4 years old. Assuming you’re buying 2nd hand?

Also assuming the 24gb memory is 2x4 and 2x8, rather than 3x8. If 3x8, run away because the previous owner doesn’t know what they’re doing.

WoW and most games will be happy up to 2560x1440 resolutions. You won’t have a problem upgrading the GPU, you will find that you can’t get anything above a 4-core 8-thread CPU into that motherboard. Whether that affects you depends on what games you play.

6 fans AND liquid cooling. At least read man.

It can get pretty hot on Malta

Triple channel memory; was only available for DDR3, so not applicable to Z170 units.
