PCU-anti-PCU conflict and why it kills normal RP on Argent Dawn

You very correctly called this conflict “different approaches to role-play”. Because from my point of view, “different approaches” is, for example, a different interpretation of lore or a different style of role-playing combat. Here we are not talking about that and never was about this, as we all know.

It is a huge part of what generated a lot of issues. Grudges were brought to OOC levels after unsatisfying IC interactions.

And so I myself feel trapped, because “when you play with PCU, people with whom you played before will turn away from you”

Although from my role-playing experience, there are players from PCU and players from Anti-PCU who are absolutely wonderful and there are people with whom it is difficult to play without conflict.

I don’t RP much anymore. But when I did, I didn’t join a PCU guild for the same reason. It’s not I didn’t want to. But I adore random RP, meeting new people everyday. And I knew having the guild above my head would cause suddenly people who did RP with me, to pretend I didn’t exist.

It’s not cool but it would be worse to guilt-trip these people into making a choice that makes them uncomfortable.

I see two solutions: RP with both groups on separate characters/create with each community separate storylines or choose between the two.

Don’t worry this will also happen when you get pinned by arbitrary mob paranoia as the latest in epic pcu spyware trying to stormwind

This.
I really liked the interaction with Defias, Scarlets, Grim Gest and some others on my chars. I am a person who is very fond of open RP, and these guys are very open even, when you accidentally fly into them. But every time I started to tell IС in Stormwind or Silvermoon some issues that matter to my character or ask help IC, the players with whom I played said “oh, this is PCU” and just left

As one of the posters mentioned above, this conflict comes off as childish.
It’s just a game, not politics. The key to a healthy RP community is to stay united and connected.
Not pointing fingers who is in the right and who is in the wrong, only hoping these grudges will be forgotten soon enough, regardless of who and how initiated the conflict. Because if not - RP will get more and more stale, and bubbled. Which is never a good thing.

Maybe (just maybe) if there are enough groups and people who will openly declare that they do not want to choose between the parties, this will somehow change. :frowning:

Hopefully. I’m seeing more and more topics like these being raised in forums/ooc chats in communities. It seems we are finally getting close to a time, where people are getting tired of this “war”.

I’ve had a lot of experience being outside and inside the PCU during my time on AD. It’s a sad truth that these differences are simply too far rooted at this point.

There are a lot of people on this server who will quite happily be very friendly to you up until you associate yourself with the PCU. It’s a sad thing that I’ve experienced personally when I brought my guild into the community.

Truthfully even if these people would be willing to try to open a dialogue a lot of us are so tired of the drama and partnered with the fact we’ve our own ecosystem now means that it’s just not worth the effort. It’s not an ideal situation but I don’t see it changing anytime soon.

I think you shouldn’t let some bubble RPers ruin your fun. Most people will interact with you in the open world and if they don’t then you have to ask yourself if they are really worth the time.

no one in the pcu declares “we only play with pcu” because that would simply be no fun. Honestly, just play with the people you want and if they tell you that it is bad to do so, walk away. Its their problem not yours. (no matter if pcu or non pcu people tell you this).
Maybe i am just to much of a simpleton but we are here to have fun, so have fun. If someone wants to ruin that for you, just walk away.

I forgot to say that I love your character too.

If you’re worried about someone not rping with you because of another group they don’t like, they genuinely have issues and aren’t worth your time. The game itself is hardly worth your time atm. Don’t let absolute goobers influence how you want to RP.

At first when people ignored us, it was pretty straight forward, turning the other way and walk out. But now when someone catches a whiff of a PCU member, they announce that they are ignoring us in /s or /e and retreat to crazy antics like telling everyone to ignore the PCU within this area, post big blogs on tumblr as to why they should or straight up tell a PCU member to kill themselves because we are so evil, we’re beyond compassion or redemption.

let me add another sad little story: when i started i rp’ed with a guy that had really similar backstory to mine. So it was like he was a younger version of me and in my first few days on this server (and i would say even still) it was some of the best rp i had the pleasure to enjoy here.
Then i became part of my guild and by that the pcu and one of the next times we spoke to eachother he whispered me about how bad they all are and so on. I told him that i experienced quite the opposite. That they supported me as a beginner and that i was quite happy there. His response was “Yeah because a big community like this needs new members”…so even the fact that they treated me friendly, the fact that they welcomed me and even endured my bad english and lack of lore knowledge was suddenly a bad thing…because they are pcu…and by that its bad…

On the same day he told he made a new guild himself…

the explicitly anti PCU people are genuinely bad roleplayers - basically bad writers with boring, inconsistent characters - and being ignored by them is no great loss.

Really sad story. This is very unfair
