The problem i find with the anti-PCU rhetoric is there’s over 200 people in that community, you can’t hate ALL of them.
Okay, “you” (hypothetical you) may not want to RP with the Rotgarde because you don’t like Perroy, but you’re going to tar all the other guilds with that brush?
Over 350 now. The PCU just wanna RP. Genuinely, I think the anti-PCU crowd are just a very loud but very small group who deter others simply due to the vile vitriol they spew. Telling people to “drink acid” for being in the PCU and such (yes that actually happened).
Anti-PCU folks not wanting to RP with us is fine.
It’s when they decide to go into whispers at us to repeatedly tell us to piss off and tell me to drink acid, or to assume they speak on everyone’s behalf and disrupt ongoing RP with /s “go away pcu we don’t want you here”, that’s kind of when it stops being a funny and gets pretty damn disruptive and toxic.
Telling people you don’t know to drink acid is mind boggling. And even if you do vaguely know their online persona, nobody has done anything that would warrant this.
I won’t pretend to understand people, but my god, it’s just a game. Step back if you feel that heated.
To discuss, however, groups should assume a principle of charity with the other party.
Even here, you can see that members in the PCU are equating avoiding their group with being a bad person or bad role-player. Other groups often ascribe malicious intentions to the PCU. How do you expect that a fair discussion could ever take place if this is the approach that has to be expected from both parties?
Discussions exist when we can put animosity on hold and attempt to create something that benefits both parties. Frankly, I don’t see this happening.
Let’s not overdo. We should not assume the internal affairs of their guild and, to avoid pointing fingers at the PCU, point them at the guild officers instead.
Had good and bad experiences with the PCU, just like i’ve had with randoms, guildies and all kinds of players in this game. I don’t want to say PCU bad because of a bad experience with a few. In the end it will only ruin my time in the game.
Only thing i would ever want from PCU is to put all their guild recruitments in one thread so other guilds can also have their recruitment posts seen on this forum. The moment i open this forum all that i see is PCU with the occasional other guild hiding in between. Guilds can’t keep their recruitment thread at the top with constantly bumping it.
They are still separate guilds, however, and they get no more dedicated personal space (one thread for their guild) as anyone else does.
The PCU is an umbrella in the sense that it’s a community of guilds, but the guilds themselves can be very different in terms of races, theme, structure and officering styles. RV isn’t run like Dirge isn’t run like Grim Gest.
Ultimately they are separate guilds for people with different interests and that people can approach about different issues and are managed in different ways by different people. Besides, I think if we stuffed them all in 1 thread blizz would ash it for spam due to the sheer amount of text.
That simply would not work. Just because you wouldnt find anything. People who are looking for a guild here look for a flavor and especially a new player doesnt look for pcu so would never open it it.
…
basically what the two above me said
Noope. We’re way past it by now and nobody is ever going to have a sensible sit-down exchange. It’s at the stage where the other people who are just too tired stop caring about the individuals refusing to move on.
It reminds me of the incident that put me off ever leading or taking an officer role again, having to manage people who just wouldn’t leave each other alone and invented scenarios in their heads about the others that I knew to be wrong because they were both venting everything on me as their superior/therapist.
That said, we’ll be in a hellstate until people who invest their whole lives in this feud stop reporting each other to the minitruth for isolation.
For real though, surely by now people must be realising the futility of the PCU vs Anti-PCU bickering - I’m not expecting people to bury the hatchets overnight, but at the end of the day, with WoW and Blizzard what they are, surely we’ve at least got to try to get along as roleplayers?
Ultimately, as I’ve predicted in other threads, the RP scene isn’t goung to get any bigger any time soon (and given current affairs, the opposite seems more likely), so fracturing ourselves even further seems totally counter productive =(
Some people are really upset with the PCU despite having no interaction with it at all and basing it on hearsay from hearsay. That’s what I see in some people that I ask “why do you feel this way?” after about 2 years of observation.
The game is dying and it’s dying like never before. I seriously wish people let bygones be bygones and just RP because right now I feel like there’s a massive canyon driven in the RP scene that boils down to “who you know and which group do you hang around with”.
Ultimately there is 1 side that’s perfectly happy to just do their thing and RP with those who want to (with some very rare exceptions)/not RP with those who don’t, and there’s 1 side who has 350+ people living in their head rent free because of a 1-sided dispute.
Only 1 of those is causing any sort of quarrel or fracture
