I know, I know yet another one of these but I think such a guild concept can work and it makes sense as of Lost Honour Cinematic, the Alliance has spent all of its professional soldiers, it only makes sense for them to scour the prisons for suitable soldiers to hold the line.

Kaibyrne here is currently imprisoned but I am happy to help create such a guild if there is interest, I have read about previous attempts but I am hopeful to learn from those and create something worth while. I am thinking of supervised men seeking redemption, not maniacs with weapons on a rampage.

If there is no such interest than I ask for guilds who would be willing to take on a lone penal soldier sometime in the future.

I wouldn’t start a thread with selling yourself short. I personally find a penal battalion to be an interesting concept and would definitely be up for it, and I’m sure other people of greater mental capacity can say why it would/wouldn’t work. There’s good info about the German Strafbataillons and Soviet Shtrafbats to draw some basis from.

Cheers mate, I’ve read about previous Guilds that tried this concept, they tried collaberating with both Guard and Criminal guilds alike but im not sure Argent Dawn can have that kind of organisation. Not that im against working closely with other guilds but it wouldn’t be our prime way of recruiting.

Im happy to create such a guild, if there is a desire for folk to rp in it.

Footman is among the guilds that does this, I don’t know whether any of the other military guilds take on penal soldiers.

As above, we do indeed take conscripts if their criminal sentence includes the option to serve a period of military service. Although conscripts in Footman go into a separate troop and are technically under watch by regimental police, the in-game unit’s section commander and section 2IC are both provosts so we shuffle the penal recruits into the main body and allow them to operate with the rest.

There are actually two conscripts joining our troop this rotation; though I will clarify we are a Stormwind corps and only take human conscripts either born in the kingdom or associated by culture or crime with its judicial process.

A penal battalion/ legion interests me highly already done it once on my hunter and it was great fun being the outsider of a highly disciplined unit. If you ever decide to create such a guild please inform me. I’m up for the task. Peace out!

This is a nice turn on military guilds, in my opinion.

if you ever read warhammer, i’d refer to like the last chancers and savlar chem dogs for some insperaation :slight_smile:

Yeah absolutely! Hopefully if this does happen we won’t be as expendable :joy:

UPDATE: Alright I added some folks on Bnet, gonna try and make a go of this Penal Legion Idea, thank you all for responding!
