Performance issues and extremely low GPU utilization

Hey there,

Last week I noticed that my game had suddenly started to perform worse. The frameskipping and split second freezing while loading assets/player models became worse and I also noticed FPS loss in certain areas and even delves to an extent. I’ve since done a full reinstall of WoW, switched different parts to the computer and what not but the issue remains. Some of it unquestionably on WoW itself being poorly optimized, but I’m still wondering if something is wrong on my end and something I noticed yesterday is that my computer has extremely low GPU utilization/usage even when I set performance to maximum performance on Nvidia Control Panel. My GPU utilization is 1-9% at all times, I don’t think I’ve seen it be even 10% at any point. Even League of Legends, another CPU heavy game runs on 20-25% GPU utilization.

Is there something I can do about this or have they screwed something up with last week’s maintenance? I haven’t noticed experiencing FPS issues in other games at all.

I am experiencing the same problem too. After updating to version 11.0.5, there has been an extreme drop in game performance. After investigating for a week to see if there were more people with the same issue, I have seen that little by little the same comments are appearing in different forums. Even just today I discovered the following video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMDEi4yVz0c) which tries to explain what is going on. The video basically says that the patch has included something that makes the CPU so saturated that it doesn’t send enough information to the graphics card. Hence the low GPU utilization. What’s more, the video also explains that after this new patch, bugs that were previously fixed have been added back in. Let’s hope that this performance problem will be solved soon, since right now the game is unplayable.
