When macros are borderline unusable in combat, people really take their -posting macros to the next level.
I am so mad I didnât take a screenshot of a guy making a Moogle in the chat saying âOh great oogly moogly itâs all gone to %/â&!" when we wiped in a raid.
That one was hilarious.
Egypt and Britannia beginning with the endless chariot spamstacks has made me realise that yeah, I had best save Rome for laterâŚ
The lategame also becomes a bit of a slog since replenishment outside of your core provinces is basically not an option, so you have to spam single units to chase your armies and keep them topped up.
Finished the campaign on Titanfall 2 again (PC instead of console) and managed to get most of the Core use achievements. Miffed to find I hadnât got Salvo Core; I was fairly sure I had, but the mission I used it in was quite chaotic, so clearly something else caused the kill. Will have to re-run that at some point.
Also getting the urge to try Apex; I need some kind of Frontier fix, while the heels are dragged on TF3. Give me giant fighting robots in what genuinely feel like warzones, darn it
They decided not to fix chariots, then.
We call that logistics.
But chariots have next to no defense stat. Just roll out the spearmen, bait the chariots into charging them by using archers behind your speardoodz. They run into the spear wall and insta-die.
Chariots mow down infantry that arenât spearmen. But fold instantly when a pointy stick is aimed at them. Triarii, Auxilia, pike walls, all work. Just make sure theyâre braced and in a dense formation. Long thin lines are easier to push through than a unit 10 men deep.
Develop your cities more and have multiple recruiting hubs. If you play as the House of Juli, for example, Patavium ( a gaulish settlement that should be the second you take after Segesta ) has immense growth rate. Build a temple to ceres, upgrade the farms and that place can churn out units like nobodyâs business.
Look for settlements with high growth, and theyâll become excellent recruitment bases. Athens and Thessalonica, Carthage, Alexandria, etc. Growth snowballs really quickly, almost to the point that some cities become entirely unmanageable if you DONâT turn them into recruitment bases!
Also build roads. Highways mean your units can walk out of a province and halfway into another with ease.
They gave Chariots more unit mass so they can punch through infantry easier, but that only really works on units that arenât in very dense formations. Otherwise, Chariots are completely unchanged.
And still garbage. Britons are better off taking their elite swordsman unit over Chariots, and Eygptâs Pharaohs Pikemen and Pharaohs Bowmen > chariots. You get chariots earlier than those units sure, but the strength of the chariot is in the early game. Once mid tier spearmen turn up, Chariots go extinct.
Unless youâre the Scythians, then youâre stuck with them for a lot longer.
My memories of Rome total war are that you want to rely on units you can recruit with minimal development in the direction youre conquering so if youre marching into barbarian lands keep to T3 and below and if youre in the south east quadrant of the map go hog wild
I mean the autoresolve favouring units with extra hitpoints, letting egypt and britain dominate the map with minimal resistance.
Donât autoresolve.
Do it do it do it, new gamemode launches tonight as well
The AI always does against itself, meaning the chariots will dominate the other factions until they run into the player. Itâs dull.
Give Apex ago, itâs free and can be a good time (especially duos). Viperâs daughter is the new legend being introduced later today.
Stay away from ranked though.
Ahhh I thought you meant player-wise, but yeah Total War is pretty jank with this; they need to figure a better way to manage auto resolve. Its been jank for as long as I can remember.
Funny, in my current campaign itâs the Germans dominating europe, not the Britons Although right now the germans are also fighting off the Scythians while I eat up Thrace and Anatolia.
And thatâs been the way of auto-resolve even in TWW2, where the AI spams completely bizarre army compositions that favour ranged units. Because ranged units are skewed in the auto resolve calculation, which is based on the idea that every single unit of ammunition is fired at your units, and hits, and kills.
Auto resolve has always been garbage. That itâs garbage in Rome 1 doesnât really mean anything.
Besides, chariots die to spearmen in actual battles. Which is where the meat of the game occurs for the player.
yo why do i want to play vampire the masquerade: bloodlines again
itâs been a few years but iâve played that game to death. itâs like a siren call that i hear every now and again, calling me to the rocks
