“I was tortured for what felt like decades. I faced every torment, many of which were failed fantasies of you breaking in to rescue me, only for it to be another room of the endless prison.”
This Is Actually A Clever Storytelling On How Even In The Depths Of Despair They Still Have A Shred Of Hope That This Escape Is The Real One Thus Shadowlands Isn’t All That Gray And Hopeless!!!
Maybe she just lost her sense of time with all the time she was tortured there? The same way an hour can feel like much longer than that when you’re doing something boring, or pass in the blink of an eye when we’re having fun.
If they wanted to accurately represent what happens when you put a human in solitary confinement for an extended time she’d be nonverbal and completely insane
Do they even have food in Shadowlands considering it’s…full of dead people? Maybe concept of sustenance does not exist in Shadowlands outside of Anima.
to be fair i did kinda forget about the cooking profession
my question now is that if food is not actually sustenance, why would the maw walkers learn cooking recipes for food without purpose since how tf are u gna get buffs if the food doesn’t do anything
More like “What the hell, Hero? I just told you what I’ve been through and MIGHT need a moment or five to process that I’m actually being rescued for real this time, maybe, and you know what? Nevermind.”
Baine realistically sits around quietly with his Maw flashbacks, though.
Peeve: it’s all terrible and nearly none of my characters function in this context.
If I were a jailer who wanted to break his subjects and also knew the layout of the Shadowlands I would also map Oribos to add to the ‘yeah you totally escaped the Maw syke lmao’ scenario
give even a few days of hope before they wake up and they’re back in Torghast
