Today I learned Warlocks… Warlocks… can’t speak Demonic in-game.
… This is Stupid™. How WoW and the Devs handle languages in game is stupid and I hate it.

Really? They’re crying over this movie?
…But of course they are. How dare a woman be the protagonist of a movie set in Rohan, a culture that we all know never had women in proactive roles. Who’s Eowyn?
Decided Eruptor is a bad gun if you’re doing an arc thrower build vs. squids, unfortunately. Recommend either a sniper for distant overseers beyond arc thrower range, or a many bullet gun to burn down ship shields so you can grenade them.
Also peeve is that every time they add new strategems my muscle memory for picking them gets completely borked. Deployed to one mission with a machine gun sentry instead of an autocannon, and then ext one I went in with a railgun instead of an arc thrower.
Biggest ask right now is for either favouriting strats or just letting us create presets for armour/weapons/strats so that I can quick select what I know I’m going with.
And then give me a random option.
Honestly this is about what I expected when I saw the trailer.
With this sorta thing the best you can hope for is that some people who see it will jump off it as an entry point to other related materials.
Unrelated, and not a peeve: I might have said it before, but I think every D&D party needs a designated idiot whose plans involve charging in and smashing stuff. It can be a fighter, barbarian, or a sorcerer who seemingly only knows fireball, but the importance of someone in the party dynamic who just says “planning is taking too long, we should just kill them all straight up” can’t be overlooked as a tool to keep the action flowing.
Also? It’s just fun. “How are you gonna take down the city watch”->“We will simply charge in and kill them.” Plan solved. No careful questions about terrain. No steady planning. No solo scouting mission. Is it objectively a ‘worse’ tactic than carefully taking an engagement after putting yourself in the perfect spot to do so? Yeah, probably, but it doesn’t matter, because we’re rolling the dice and having fun doing so.
that’s me (i’m not very clever)
To be the devil’s advocate, they could be pissed off that Helm’s story (which was in broad strokes based on the LOTR appendices) was sidelined and he isn’t even the protagonist, instead the main plot of the movie is a bildungsroman for a young feisty warrior-princess who is essentially an original character (Helm had a daughter, but almost nothing is known about her, not even her name).
That would be fair and valid point. I could say that there’s always that risk with the appendices and unfinished story stuff, and delving into un-worked territory of beloved authors is always kinda fraught/should be trodden with care and respect.
At the same time, however boring it might be pales in comparison to the Boring™ that is grown neckbears frothing and raging and clogging up with the internet with zombie-shrieks of ‘Wooooke!’ and ‘DEI’ and whatever their next, boring spam word will be.
Like everyone and their mom knew that the next witcher game would be from ciri’s pov back when w3 was still current topic. Not only the game itself opened the door wide for that, but cdpr even explicitly said so too afaik. And i don’t remember anyone objecting back then even in the circles you’d expect it from.
It can only be a surprise for people that never engaged with the game or the books.
that and since then more and more of certain demographics have become completely absorbed in rage bait which has lead to places like misogyny it seems.
But now no more Geraldo (PBUH), Gamers are forced to play a WaeAK girl that could never realistically swing a sword and also, they made her Ugly somehow(???) to cater to the Woke Mob.
Gamers: Noooooo, she’s UGLY now
Me: hummina hummina awooga
I swear most of these people are so deeply brain poisoned by anime girls especially that it’s impossible to sway the standard already set. Proportions and features must conform to mukokuseki or be discarded.
Now, while there’s definetly some complaints to be had about the gaming industry, the amounts of “The West has fallen” - tier reactions due to the trailer requires a very special amount of brainrot.
The most concerning thing is how emboldened these basement dwellers are in screaming their nonsense diatribes at anyone who’ll listen or read it.
In other news, with the upcoming Monster Hunter: Wilds in 2025, I decided to pick up World again because I still need to finish that game solo, am currently on the final boss of the expansion before they started adding more ( Shara Ishvalda) and I love his fight and music.
And the nice ( and creepy part) is that when he opens his eyes, he’s not staring at the character, but at -you-, as if he knows it’s the player guiding his foes’ actions.
I actually saw some Gamer™ having spent… I know not how many hours of their life on analyzing how Ciri’s jaw structure wasn’t right and was too masculine now.
I’d tell them to touch grass, but I expect it isn’t busty enough for them to be interested.
I wouldn’t mind a Build-A-Witcher RPG game similar to Cyberpunk but Ciri was incredibly obvious as the protagonist from the mintue they made her playable in Witcher 3 with unique mechanics, that was never going to just be wholesale abandoned and using Ciri lets them keep the setting relatively in the same timeframe of the beloved characters (Geralt, Yen, Triss, Roche, Iorveth, Letho etc).
The only complaint you could really level at any of the info we have on W4 atm is how an adult passed the Trial of Grasses when it goes from 98% lethality normally to 99.9% for Adults, but I imagine that’ll be a [handwave] “The Elder Blood offered her stronger immunity to side-effects and lethality” which, sure, fair enough; she can freeze time I’m not really beyond believing that given that it was the whole point of the Prophecy.
Oh they definitely have some lore to expand upon and explain, don’t get me wrong. But even with that being said, I have faith in CDPR’s narrative chops. I trust they’ll make sense of it - that, and the several RPG endings from Witcher 3.
I personally subscribe to the Second Conjunction of the Spheres playing a role. That, or her being able to literally time travel to an era where Witcher alchemy wasn’t borderline forgotten about.
Someone set the BBC on fire, please. Utter trash…
Ciri is a, from what we can tell, witcher on the path. Before that she was a -highly- physical young woman/teenage girl living a very physical, rough life of fighting and running.
What? Do these people expect her to stop, pamper herself, put on a make up, shop for the perfect bra and spend 16 hours brushing her hair?
No witcher doesn’t look beat to hell and back, there’s a very good reason for this. Hell most people in general in the witcherverse don’t look half dead at the -best- of times. Nevermind the people fighting monsters.
These same people were frothing mad about Aloy - y’know, the outcast, from the post apocalyptic survivalist/tribal setting? - not looking ‘pretty’ enough.
Deeply Unserious People, who don’t deserve the time of day…
